On the afternoon of August 26, at the 8th Extraordinary Session, the 15th National Assembly voted to pass a Resolution to elect the Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court.

With 438/438 delegates present in favor (equal to 91.06% of the total number of National Assembly delegates), the National Assembly passed the Resolution to elect Mr. Le Minh Tri as Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court for the 2021-2026 term.

Performing the oath of office, Mr. Le Minh Tri said: "Under the sacred red flag with yellow star of the Fatherland, before the National Assembly and the people and voters of the whole country, I - Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, swear: Absolutely loyal to the Fatherland, to the people, to the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Strive to fulfill the tasks assigned by the Party, State and people."

On behalf of the National Assembly, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man acknowledged the oath of Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court Le Minh Tri.

Speaking before the National Assembly after taking the oath, Mr. Le Minh Tri thanked the Party and the National Assembly for assigning and electing him to the position of Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court, affirming that this was a great honor, as well as a heavy responsibility for him personally before the Party, State and people.

Mr. Le Minh Tri emphasized the task of the Court sector, which is to protect justice, protect human rights, protect fairness, justice, protect the interests of the State, the legitimate and legal interests of organizations and individuals, contributing significantly to the building of an honest judiciary according to the requirements of the Party and the State today.

Before the National Assembly, the new Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court promised that in performing his duties, he would strictly comply with the leadership of the Party, strictly abide by the Constitution and laws, fully implement judicial principles, and make the greatest effort to fulfill his oath; continue to inherit and promote the achievements and positive aspects that his predecessors had built, and promptly overcome the limitations and shortcomings that the National Assembly and National Assembly deputies had pointed out regarding the Court sector in the past time.

Accordingly, Mr. Le Minh Tri pledged to work with the Party Executive Committee to attach great importance to solidarity and unity, have a policy of linking Party building and rectification with industry building, promote responsibility and exemplary behavior of heads of units, courts at all levels, and Party members in performing professional tasks.

At the same time, strengthen discipline and continue to study and follow the ideology, morality and style of President Ho Chi Minh, especially his teachings for each court official, to truly be a person who "serves the public, upholds the law, is impartial and impartial".

“The most important thing is to build and strengthen the trust of the majority of people in the country's judiciary, strive to implement the motto of saying less but doing more to gain people's trust, increase listening to comments and strictly comply with the supervision of the people, the National Assembly, and National Assembly deputies on the activities of courts at all levels,” affirmed the Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court.

Mr. Le Minh Tri was born on November 1, 1960, hometown: Tan Thong Hoi commune, Cu Chi district, Ho Chi Minh City. He has a Bachelor of Laws and a Master's degree in political theory.

He is a member of the Party Central Committee, 12th and 13th terms; Secretary of the Party Central Committee, 13th term (from August 2024); and a National Assembly delegate, 14th and 15th terms.

During his career, Mr. Le Minh Tri held the following positions: Party Cell Secretary, Deputy Head of Security Staff Department, Ho Chi Minh City Police; Deputy Chief of Office of Ho Chi Minh City People's Council and People's Committee; Member of the City Party Committee, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee; Deputy Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Central Internal Affairs Commission; Secretary of the Party Personnel Committee, Chief Prosecutor of the Supreme People's Procuracy.

On August 16, 2024, he was elected by the 13th Party Central Committee as a member of the Secretariat.
