Leader Kim Jong-un and his daughter at the parade
Yonhap news agency reported that the Democratic People's Republic of Korea held a military parade in Pyongyang on the night of September 8 to celebrate the 75th anniversary of its founding, with the participation of leader Kim Jong-un.
Mr. Kim witnessed a "magnificent" military parade at Kim Il-sung Square to celebrate the founding of the country, according to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA). He appeared with his daughter Ju-ae, but did not speak.
Also present at the event were a Chinese delegation, led by Vice Premier Liu Guozhong, and members of a Russian military song and dance troupe. Moscow did not send its own delegation.

The night event was the third time North Korea has held a military parade this year, with the most recent one taking place in July to mark the 70th anniversary of the signing of the armistice agreement on the Korean Peninsula (1953-2023).
The parade comes amid reports that Mr Kim could be travelling to Vladivostok to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin next week.
The parade featured motorcades, mobile missile launchers and anti-tank guided missiles. It appears that Pyongyang did not display intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) and other strategic weapons at the event.

Most of the parade was led by the Workers' and Peasants' Red Guards, a civil defense organization of some 5.7 million workers and peasants.
According to KCNA, Mr. Kim received the delegation from Beijing and held talks in a "cordial" atmosphere, when the two sides agreed to "develop the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries and further strengthen coordination and cooperation in many areas."
The news agency said President Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping sent congratulatory messages to Mr. Kim on the occasion of this anniversary.
