Specifically, Mr. Trump has chosen Mr. Mike Waltz, a Florida congressman, as National Security Advisor.

Waltz, who served in the Army National Guard and is a vocal opponent of China’s growing assertiveness in the Asia-Pacific region, said the United States must be prepared to defend its interests in the region, Reuters reported.

He served as defense policy director for secretaries of defense Donald Rumsfeld and Robert Gates. In 2018, Mr. Waltz was elected to Congress, where he is chairman of the House Armed Services subcommittee overseeing military logistics and a member of the Select Committee on Intelligence.

In a book published earlier this year, “Harsh Truths: Thinking and Leading Like a Green Beret,” Waltz outlined a five-part strategy to prevent conflict with China, including reassuring allies in the Pacific and modernizing aircraft and ships.

On the conflict in Ukraine, Mr. Waltz's views have shifted from calling on the Biden administration to provide more weapons to Kiev to saying last month that US goals in the Eastern European country needed to be reassessed.

He asked: " Is (military aid to Ukraine) in the interests of the United States? Should we now spend time, money, and resources where Washington needs them most, the Pacific?"

Regarding relations with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), Mr. Waltz praised President-elect Donald Trump for pushing allies in the military alliance to spend more on defense, but the future US National Security Advisor did not propose withdrawing Washington from the alliance.

Also on November 11, President-elect Trump said he would appoint former Republican congressman Lee Zeldin as head of the Environmental Protection Agency.

In a post on the Truth Social platform, Mr. Trump affirmed that Mr. Zeldin will ensure fairness in making decisions regarding deregulation and laws on environmental protection, as well as ensure that regulations are quickly issued in a way that benefits American businesses, while maintaining the highest environmental standards.

Mr. Zeldin is a man who has views that go against green environmental protection actions.

Previously, President-elect Donald Trump chose Mr. Tom Homan to be in charge of border areas in the upcoming administration, calling the "factor" above "the new border czar" and nominated Republican Congresswoman Elise Stefanik as US Ambassador to the United Nations.
