Speaking at the program, Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports Bach Lien Huong said that the program is not only an opportunity to review memorable historical memories but also an opportunity for us to express our gratitude to the heroes who sacrificed for the cause of national liberation and reunification. This is also an opportunity for everyone, especially the younger generation, to better understand the patriotic tradition and the steadfast and indomitable fighting spirit of revolutionary soldiers.

“The capital Hanoi - the heart of the whole country carries a great responsibility for the cause of liberating the South and unifying the country. Hanoi is always the support, the trust, the solid rear, always looking towards the South with the most affectionate feelings in the spirit of "all for the South", wholeheartedly and with all our strength together with the whole country to encourage and cheer on the resilient struggle of the people and soldiers of the South, supporting the South with human and material resources to reach the final victory", Ms. Bach Lien Huong shared.

The talk show "Hanoi - Will and belief in victory" has historical content throughout the years from 1954 to 1975 with 3 topics: The North - a solid rear; The Dien Bien Phu victory in the air in 1972 and the Great Spring victory in 1975 - unifying the country.

The talk show brought to the audience real, emotional stories about a time of bombs and bullets from historical witnesses who directly participated and witnessed important events in the war of national liberation, namely: Colonel, Hero of the People's Armed Forces Dinh The Van; Meritorious Artist, Director Pham Viet Tung; Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thuan; Captain Vu Dang Toan; Mr. Pham Duy Do; Sergeant Ngo Sy Nguyen...

The public was reminded of the proud history of the nation through stories about the “Three Virtues” movement of Hanoi women, such as Ms. Dang Thi Ty, former Platoon Leader of the Day Dam Militia Platoon (Dan Phuong). The days of participating in the local “Three Virtues” movement were unforgettable times in her life. In February 1965, 12 women in their 18s and 20s, including Ms. Ty, were admitted to the Party and assigned to combat duty at the Day Dam with a 12.7mm gun.

Or the story of Ms. Nguyen Thi Sang, who at the age of 20 was assigned to be in charge of military trains carrying soldiers to the South to reinforce the Mau Than Campaign in 1968.

“The train conductor’s duty at that time was to be in charge of the whole train. The “Three Good Men” train crew consisted of eight women, serving 13 to 15 carriages. When enemy planes attacked, the crew had to signal the train to stop in time. At that time, the most bombed location was Thanh Hoa station,” Ms. Sang recalled.

At the seminar, historical witnesses also shared touching and heroic stories of the moment when tank 390 crashed through the gate of the Independence Palace, creating a historic moment, marking the collapse of the Saigon government, completely liberating the South, and unifying the country.

“During the Ho Chi Minh Campaign, we had to go through many battles, travel on many winding and fierce roads, but perhaps the turn that brought tank 390 to crash through the gate of the Independence Palace at noon on April 30, 1975 was the most beautiful turn of my life,” said Mr. Nguyen Van Tap, the driver of tank 390.

In addition to the stories of historical witnesses, the public also heard the stories of director Pham Viet Tung, who had many films recording the historical moments of the nation and was also one of the war reporters accompanying the army to liberate the South. He was the author of the image of the American B52 plane crashing in the sky of Hanoi during the Dien Bien Phu in the air battle in 1972; or the image of a tank crushing the three-striped flag of the puppet government...

The talk show “Hanoi - Will and belief in victory” brought meaningful and interesting stories, helping the public, especially the young generation, to recall heroic memories and express gratitude to the generation of fathers and brothers who sacrificed for the cause of national liberation and reunification.
