Reviewing revolutionary memories and the "human cultivation" career of the Southwest Pedagogical School

(NLDO) - From its inception to the completion of its historical mission, the Southwest Pedagogical School only existed for a total of 14 years (1961-1975).

On March 7, the Liaison Committee of the Southwest Pedagogical School held a traditional meeting of the Southwest Pedagogical School (T3) during the period of fighting against America to save the country.

This is the 8th traditional meeting of the Southwest Pedagogical College to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) taking place in Ho Chi Minh City.

Speaking at the meeting, People's Teacher, Dr. Dang Huynh Mai - former Deputy Minister of Education and Training, Chairman of the Association of Former Teachers of Vinh Long Province, Head of the Liaison Committee of the Southwest Pedagogical School - went back in history to recall the revolutionary memories of the legendary T3 school.

"It has been 50 years since the liberation day, but patriotism, compatriotism, national spirit and revolutionary will are still burning in the hearts of our teachers and students. The teachers during the resistance war, with their "Singing to drown out the sound of bombs" and timeless songs, contributed to the success of the teacher training school in the middle of the Tram and Duoc forests. It was from those days that the resistance teachers became the core of the team of teachers and managers of the education sector" - Ms. Dang Huynh Mai emphasized.

Also at the meeting, Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Manh Cuong highly appreciated the role of orienting the development of education, training and building a team of teachers and education staff to prepare the core force for the knowledge revolution movement.

Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong acknowledged that throughout the 50-year journey, the Ho Chi Minh City political system has continuously strengthened the spirit of patriotism, inherited the heroic revolutionary tradition, and overcome many difficulties and challenges with a spirit of innovation, dynamism and creativity.

Thanks to that, the city has achieved many important achievements, affirming its position as a special urban area - a major center of economy, culture, education - training, science - technology and international integration. With the role of the locomotive of the Southern key economic region, Ho Chi Minh City continues to maintain great influence and strongly contribute to the overall development of the country.

From its inception to the completion of its historic mission, the Southwest Pedagogical School existed for only 14 years (1961-1975). During this period, the school opened 14 training courses for education staff and teachers with more than 600 provincial and district education staff and hundreds of primary school teachers and about 150 secondary school teachers. From this school, education staff and teachers spread to the provinces, to the armed forces and the people to carry out educational tasks.

During 14 years, many teachers and education staff steadfastly stayed at school amidst bombs and bullets, many of whom heroically sacrificed their lives at a young age.

After the victory, they continued to study, work, and contribute to the country. Some held leadership roles at the central and local levels; some continued their education careers, becoming People's Teachers, Meritorious Teachers, etc.
