Actress Thanh Hue is gaining attention for her role as Tuyet in the crime film Doc Dao. Tuyet is a casino owner with a strong personality that makes Khuong “Lieu” (played by Duy Hung) – the son of the boss Le Toan (Meritorious Artist Hoang Hai) – fall in love at first sight and is chosen by him to be his “nuong tu” (wife). From then on, she is called Tuyet “Nuong tu”.
Different from her somewhat arrogant personality on screen, in real life, Thanh Hue impresses with her feminine and gentle beauty.
In a conversation with Dan Tri reporter, the actress born in 2001 shared about her chance to play the role and for the first time revealed about her life and love story.

"I was beaten the most in the movie"
Thanh Hue is receiving the love of the audience when playing the role of Tuyet "Nuong Tu" in the movie "Doc Dao". How did you come to this role?
– When I was on summer vacation in my third year of university, Ms. Le Phuong Linh from the production organization of Doc Dao – previously known as Biet Duoc Den – contacted me to invite me to play the role of Tuyet. At that time, I had free time so I accepted immediately.
When I joined the Black Pharma project, I auditioned for the role of Van, but this time I was invited directly.
For me, this is a great fortune. As a new actor, I have just participated in one film but I have been remembered, favored and given the opportunity to try my hand at the next project. I am truly grateful and appreciate this.
Recently, some excerpts of Thanh Hue in the film, dialogue with Duy Hung or Doan Quoc Dam received millions of views on TikTok. Notably, there was a scene where the character Tuyet "Nuong Tu" only said two words: "How?" and also attracted nearly 5 million views. Are you surprised by this effect from the audience?
– In the project Black Medicine , the audience had to follow the plot as well as the character’s personality in several episodes to be interested in my role as Van. After that, when I posted clips of myself with Mr. Vu (actor Hoang Anh Vu – PV) – my co-star in the film – on social networks, I got more attention.
However, when it came to the movie Doc Dao , just one scene in the first episode where I appeared was well received by the audience. I was happy and quite surprised!
I think the audience is impressed with the role of Tuyet “Nuong Tu” because of the character’s beautiful and eye-catching appearance and costumes. This girl also has personality, with a bit of arrogance, so everyone likes her.
Now when I go out, many people call me Tuyet "Nuong Tu" instead of my real name.
So do you think your outstanding appearance is your first attractive advantage?
– Up to now, I have only participated in 2 films but I am remembered by the audience. I think the public favors me not only because of my appearance but also because of my acting ability. For a young actor like me, the audience's encouragement or comments are also very valuable. I will always absorb and try to learn more.
In the film, Thanh Hue has many scenes with Meritorious Artist Ho Phong (as Duong “Co Bo”) and Duy Hung (Khuong “Lieu”). Working with colleagues much older than you in age and experience, do you feel pressured? And how do you portray impressive, natural scenes with your co-stars like in the film?
– Up until now, I have always been impressed with the villain roles played by Uncle Ho Phong. I also shared honestly with Uncle Phong that in real life I am still very afraid of him (laughs).
So when I had to act out the scene where I was humiliated and beaten by Duong "Co Mu", I brought my fear of Uncle Ho Phong into the film to complete that scene.
As for Duy Hung, I can say he is my co-star who has had good chemistry with me up until now, even though this is our first collaboration.
In real life, he also has a personality quite similar to Khuong “Lieu” in the movie, so I did not feel overwhelmed or difficult to get to know him. Duy Hung is very cheerful, sociable and shares a lot of acting experience with me. Therefore, I easily got into character, got in tune with him quite well and did not feel too much pressure.
Thanh Hue's youthful and gentle appearance.
What is the most unforgettable scene with Thanh Hue and what impressed you most about the character Tuyet "Nuong Tu" in the movie "Doc Dao"?
– The character Tuyet “Nuong Tu” in Doc Dao or Van in My Black Medicine both live in a very complicated environment. However, if Van falls into a downward spiral, indulges too much and becomes addicted, Tuyet is very brave.
Tuyet is the owner of a casino but she doesn't like that casino and always wants to move to a better and more civilized environment.
Tuyet lives in a dangerous environment with many social evils, but she doesn't get involved in social evils, she is just blinded by love. Those are the things I like about this character.
I was impressed when playing Tuyet because, although I was not the only female actress, I was definitely beaten the most in the film. One person after another beat me, I must have been more than ten times (laughs).
However, despite the pain, fear or surprise because this was the first time I filmed such scenes, I tried my best to transform into the tough and strong Tuyet.
As for the memory during filming, it was the scene where I fought with Minh Cuc. In the movie, Minh Cuc played the role of Ly.
That day, it was raining heavily and quite dark, everyone was tired from a long day of work but still had to wait for the rain to stop before filming. That scene, Cuc and I wrestled with each other on the concrete floor, it felt painful but the two sisters and the crew had to try their best to complete it.
When we got home and lifted up our shirts, we saw that our bodies were covered in bruises. Minh Cuc was as strong and personable as she was in the movies, while I was quite weak. So, every time I prepared for a fight scene with her, I felt… nervous (laughs).
"I look like Tuyet "Nuong Tu" 40%"
While still a student, Thanh Hue was given two first roles with complicated circumstances, a recovering casino owner, etc. Is she afraid that in the future, she will be stereotyped as a "bad girl" in movies?
– Honestly, before I acted in a movie, I had a dream that my first role on the small screen would be a gentle female student or a female teacher.
However, suddenly I was assigned the role of addict Van. It was not a very good image but I still had to try to complete the role.
How the audience receives me depends on each person's perspective. And up to now, I feel lucky that the public has responded positively to my two roles.
Many audiences are also curious, what kind of family does Thanh Hue come from?
- I was born and raised in an ordinary family in the Quan Ho village of Bac Ninh.
My family is not “noble” or rich. I was not spoiled like Van nor neglected like Tuyet. To me, my family is full of love, peace, simplicity and warmth.
It's hard to imagine what Thanh Hue is like in real life? How similar is she to Tuyet "Nuong Tu" in the movie?
– I realize that I resemble Tuyet “Nuong Tu” 40%. In real life, I often tease my friends by saying Tuyet’s words in the movie like: “How?”, “What are you going to do?”…
When I am sad or in trouble, I often look for someone I trust and am close to to share my feelings with. With strangers or people I meet for the first time, I am quiet and quite cold. I consider myself a gentle person, not arrogant and individualistic like Tuyet.
My life now revolves mainly around my school schedule and filming schedule. So if I have time off, I rarely go out and just want to stay at home.
My hobby and also my bad habit is… lying down. Maybe because I have to stand so much when filming, I crave lying down. I have a chair or a bed and whenever I can, I lie down (laughs).
As a young and beautiful new generation actress of VFC, is Thanh Hue a fan of branded goods? What is your opinion about using branded goods?
– I often attend events so I can't be without clothes worth millions of dong, but in my closet, there are also many clothes worth hundreds of thousands of dong.
For me, from clothes to handbags, watches or shoes, as long as I find them beautiful and suitable, I will use them, they don't necessarily have to be branded.
Currently, I am not in the habit of using branded goods because they are too luxurious and expensive. I often shop online and am lucky to receive sponsorship and gifts from brands.
Thanh Hue considers herself a traditional woman.
“I am a traditional woman”
A beautiful and talented girl like Thanh Hue certainly has no shortage of boys surrounding her? Can you share about your boyfriend?
– My boyfriend and I have been together for 5 years. For me, choosing a lover is not as important as appearance as personality. That person must be kind and loving to me, only then will he be good to my family.
And at this point, I see my lover has all of those things.
What kind of person is Thanh Hue in love?
– I think I have a little bit of everything. Sometimes I am strong and in control, and sometimes I have to be gentle and “tie the ropes tightly”. But no matter how strong or how strong a woman is, deep inside she still wants to be protected and loved.
Do you consider yourself a traditional or modern woman?
– I think I am a traditional woman. On days when I work all day, I may not be able to do housework, but if I have time off, I really like to clean the house and cook delicious food.
I think that after I get married, I will spend more time taking care of my family. No matter how busy I am, I will still have a meal with my husband every day (laughs).
Thanks Thanh Hue for sharing!
