Mr. Pham Duy Khiem, Chairman of Phu Yen Province's Salanganes Nest Association, said that as of December 2023, there were over 1,000 salanganes' nest houses in the province, distributed evenly in 9 districts, towns and cities; the total output of salanganes' nests was nearly 2 tons (equivalent to about 40 billion VND).
Recently, due to the increasing hunting of swiftlets, there is a phenomenon of swiftlets migrating to other places...
The Provincial Bird Nest Association has increased coordination with localities to prevent this problem. The Association has also supported members in registering for food safety certification, registering OCOP products for bird nests and products processed from bird nests, etc.
As a result, bird's nest products of 3 enterprises were certified as 3-star and 4-star provincial OCOP products.
Sharing at the exchange, Mr. Nguyen Van Son, Chairman of the Ninh Thuan Province Salanganes Nest Association, said that the salanganes nest farming profession was formed and developed in Ninh Thuan province since 2012 with nearly 600 salanganes nest houses, with an output of about 3 tons/year.
The local bird's nest farming industry is also facing problems with hunting, causing the bird's nest population to decline, so the association wants to learn from Phu Yen's experience in preserving and developing bird's nest populations.
On this occasion, the two localities' bird's nest associations also shared experiences and solutions for developing bird's nest brands, registering for ISO and OCOP certification, as well as exporting bird's nest products to China.
