The water level of Chu and Ma rivers suddenly rose, Thanh Hoa issued an order to evacuate people in 2 wards of the city.
Currently, the water level of Chu River and Ma River flowing through Thieu Khanh and Thieu Duong wards (Thanh Hoa city) is rising, causing local flooding for people living outside the dike.
Giang Thanh Street (Thieu Khanh Ward) currently has 171 households with nearly 400 people, mainly living outside the Chu River dike, due to rising river water levels, causing localized flooding.
To ensure safety, local authorities and functional forces evacuated 25 households with 81 people to safety, the remaining 70 households evacuated in place.
River water overflowed the dike in Thieu Khanh ward from the afternoon of September 22.
In addition to Giang Thanh street area, Thieu Khanh ward authorities also promptly evacuated 12 households/31 people of Dinh Xa street and 71 households/245 people of street 9 to a safe place.
Immediately after the water rose, authorities helped people move their belongings to safety.
Water flooded deep into people's houses.
To move people have to use boats to move.
In the dike area of Street 7 and Street 8 in Thieu Duong Ward, some roads were partially flooded, causing difficulties in people's travel.
Mr. Le Van Mao, Chairman of Thieu Duong Ward People's Committee, said: The whole ward has 10 streets, including 7 streets outside the dike, with more than 6,000 people. At present, the local government has proactively evacuated 584 people in flooded areas, mainly on-site, while some cases of single people, the elderly, and those isolated from residential areas have also been evacuated to safety.
