The Department of Education and Training of Thua Thien - Hue province has just sent an official dispatch to its affiliated units, the Department of Education and Training, the Center for Vocational Education and Continuing Education of districts, towns, and Hue city on organizing teaching and learning in the context of continuing to respond to the developments of floods.
In the dispatch, the Department of Education and Training of Thua Thien - Hue province stated that according to the forecast of the provincial Hydrometeorological Station, from the afternoon of November 25 to 27, Thua Thien - Hue will continue to have heavy rain, very heavy rain, and some places will have extremely heavy rain. The total rainfall forecast from 4:00 p.m. on November 25 to 4:00 p.m. on November 27 in localities in Thua Thien - Hue is generally 100 - 250mm, some places over 350mm.
The mountainous areas of A Luoi, Nam Dong, Phu Loc, Phong Dien districts and Huong Tra town are 150 - 400mm, some places over 500mm. Particularly, the Bach Ma mountain area and Bach Ma peak (Phu Loc district) are 400 - 800mm, some places over 800mm. Warning level 2 of natural disaster risk due to heavy rain.
Nguyen Chi Thanh Street, section passing Gia Hoi High School (Hue City), is still deeply flooded.
In the face of the above situation, the Department of Education and Training of Thua Thien - Hue informed units in flooded areas that are not accessible to students to continue to stay home from school until safety conditions are met before organizing students to return to school. At the same time, make-up teaching plans are implemented to ensure the completion of the general progress of the school year plan.
Less affected, dry areas (Nam Dong district, A Luoi and some localities in Huong Thuy town, Huong Tra and Phong Dien district...) allow students to return to school as usual from November 26.
Regarding safety education to reduce accidents and injuries after floods, the Department of Education and Training of Thua Thien - Hue requires units to follow the instructions in the Department's documents. In particular, students are advised not to go to ponds, lakes, rivers or streams without the support of adults after each class.
The Dap Da area between Le Loi and Nguyen Sinh Cung streets (Hue City) is deeply flooded with fast-flowing water.
According to the latest report of the Standing Office of the Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention and Control of Thua Thien - Hue province, at 3:00 p.m. on November 25, the water level of the Huong River at Kim Long station was at 2.93m, 0.57m below alert level 3; the Bo River at Phu Oc was at 3.83m, 0.83m above alert level 2.
The rising river water caused many roads in the center of Hue City to be flooded 0.3 - 0.6 meters deep. Some inter-village and inter-hamlet roads in communes of Hue City and districts and towns such as Huong Thuy and Quang Dien were also flooded 0.3 - 0.7 meters deep.
Due to the impact of heavy rain, a section of the mountain along the road leading to the center of Nam Dong district (Thua Thien - Hue) has experienced a fairly large landslide. Local authorities had to put up ropes and warn people and vehicles not to pass through to ensure safety.
Last night (November 24), a landslide in A Luoi district (Thua Thien - Hue) also collapsed part of the house of Mr. Tran Van Khua (born in 1973, residing in Lien Hiep village, Lam Dot commune, A Luoi district), injuring 2 people, 6 others were lucky to escape.
