Ba Pagoda is associated with the legend of Linh Son Holy Mother Bodhisattva.

Taking place on the 19th day of the 9th lunar month every year, the Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva Renunciation Ceremony is one of the three important holidays of the year for Buddhists to pay their respects to Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva - a symbol of compassion, altruism and salvation of sentient beings in Buddhist culture.

For the people of the South in general and the people of Tay Ninh in particular, the image of Quan The Am always holds an important position in spiritual life. Meanwhile, Ba Den Mountain with the nearly 300-year-old Ba Pagoda system and the legend of Linh Son Thanh Mau is considered the spiritual support of the people here.

Every year, Ba Den Mountain attracts thousands of people to make pilgrimages and worship on the occasion of the Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara's renunciation. This year, Buddhists and tourists will be immersed in the solemn festival atmosphere with many meaningful spiritual activities. The Ba Pagoda complex with the ancient Linh Son Tien Thach pagoda covered with flags and flowers and the legendary Ba Temple will be the place for Buddhists and tourists to pay homage to Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara with respectful incense offering ceremonies.

On the top of Ba Den Mountain, the peaceful Buddhist space will be a place for visitors to worship and feel the compassion of the tallest Buddha statue in Asia - an incarnation of Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara. Standing majestically on a bronze lotus platform at an altitude of 986m, the Buddha statue of Tay Bo Da Son has its hair tied up high, covered with a long scarf, and a crown on its head, with a dignified, gentle and graceful appearance, a symbol of virtue and compassion for all living beings.

In particular, on the evening of Saturday, October 19, 2024 (the 17th day of the 9th lunar month), a lantern offering ceremony to celebrate the renunciation of Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara will be held so that people and tourists can pay their respects to the symbol of compassion. Here, visitors will receive special flower lanterns and write their own wishes to Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara. In the large square, thousands of lanterns will be lit up, where visitors will release flower lanterns at the foot of the great statue of Buddha Tay Bo Da Son with admiration for his great merit.

Along with the sacred experience of offering candles on the highest mountain in the South, the Quan The Am Bodhisattva festival is also an opportunity for visitors to immerse themselves in the unique Buddhist space on the mountain top. At the exhibition center, visitors will be able to admire the images of Quan The Am Bodhisattva modeled from classic Buddhist works in the world such as Quan Am Nam Hai (12th century in China), Bodhisattva Thousand Arms Senju Kannon (8th century in Japan), Bodhisattva Tara (14th century in Nepal), Quan Am Thousand Hands and Eyes (15th century in Nepal)...

Also here, visitors will enter the sacred land of Buddha with many famous spiritual works such as the world's largest sandstone statue of Maitreya Bodhisattva, the cluster of Prajnaparamita Sutra pillars engraved with 12,000 gilded Tibetan characters, or the area preserving Buddha's relics donated by Bodh Gaya.

Ba Den Mountain hosts many cultural and spiritual festivals all year round.

Ba Den Mountain is the most sacred destination in the South, and is also the destination of many spiritual and cultural festivals taking place all year round. Right after the ceremony of Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara's renunciation, Ba Den Mountain will enter the heritage month, where visitors will be able to admire the national intangible cultural heritages from all regions vividly recreated at the top of the mountain.

In particular, the last months of the year will be the time when Ba Den Mountain welcomes millions of people and tourists to the Thanksgiving season - one of the traditional rituals of the Vietnamese people with the spiritual concept of "what you borrow, you have to pay back". This will be an opportunity for people to express their gratitude and respect to Linh Son Thanh Mau Bodhisattva at the Ba Temple system, and join in many sacred experiences on the mountain top to say goodbye to the old year and welcome the new year with peace and luck.
