According to the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association, according to estimates from the General Department of Customs, in the first half of 2024, fruit and vegetable exports reached 3.4 billion USD, up 28% over the same period last year. Of which, durian, dragon fruit, banana and longan are the fruits that contributed greatly to the growth of fruit and vegetable exports.

Major markets recorded an increase of 10-50% compared to the same period in 2023, except for the Netherlands, which reduced its purchases. Specifically, China, Thailand and South Korea are still major markets, with imports increasing by 30-60% by the end of May compared to the same period last year. Of which, Thailand spent 74.5 million USD and South Korea 136 million USD to buy Vietnamese fruits and vegetables.
In China alone, in the first 5 months of the year, this market bought 1.7 billion USD of Vietnamese fruits and vegetables, an increase of 33% over the same period in 2023. According to Mr. Dang Phuc Nguyen - General Secretary of the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association, Vietnamese fruits and vegetables have many advantages in exporting here thanks to their geographical location and similarities in culinary culture.
Fruit and vegetable exports are forecast to continue to grow by 15-20% this year. If the opportunities from the Protocols are well utilized, fruit and vegetable exports could reach 7 billion USD this year, an increase of 0.5-1 billion USD compared to the agricultural sector's plan set at the end of last year.
