While in high school, Nguyen Lan Phuong was a literature major and studied social sciences, but thanks to her family's suggestion, she took the entrance exam for the Banking Academy. After the 2019 high school graduation exam, Phuong chose to apply for block D00 to the academy with a score of 25 (second place in the entrance exam of the Banking Faculty).
Lan Phuong has a beautiful appearance.
Choosing a high-quality bilingual training system, Phuong did not have much luck in learning English in the first days of entering the university. “In high school, I mainly studied grammar instead of listening, speaking, reading and writing skills, so it took me 3 months to adapt, and my grades in the first semester were not high. Fortunately, the difficulty and requirements for the subjects increased at a moderate level and I gradually found a suitable learning method,” Phuong said.
When entering the major, banking credit was the most difficult subject for Phuong because it had to delve into professional and technical knowledge. “But in this subject, my class was taught by the head of the department, she integrated the knowledge in the curriculum with practical experience very well, making the lessons much more interesting and easier to understand for students. Thanks to that, I was able to get acquainted with, love and understand the subject and then get a perfect score in the final exam.”

During her four years at university, this female student did not miss any scholarship opportunities. The award that Phuong is most proud of is the special scholarship in the banking industry for the 2021-2022 school year, awarded by the Deputy Governor of the State Bank, Mr. Nguyen Kim Anh, at the opening ceremony of the new school year.
“My goal is to achieve good results and get a scholarship because first of all, it brings joy to my parents and then to pursue my personal interests. I have loved the Korean band Super Junior since I was 10 years old, and to go to my idol’s concerts, I saved up from the scholarships I received,” Phuong shared.
Lan Phuong went to see her idol's concert thanks to the scholarship money she received to encourage her studies.
Lan Phuong is also in the top 10 excellent topics nominated by the Banking Faculty to participate in the BA Awards competition (Award for excellent theses at the academy level).
Mr. Le Hai Trung, Deputy Head of the Banking Faculty, Secretary of the Youth Union of the Banking Academy, who taught Lan Phuong in the commercial banking course as well as guided her graduation thesis, said: “Lan Phuong is a very outstanding student of class K22CLCA. Phuong is always very hard-working, diligent in researching, learning and proactive in studying as well as scientific research. When I taught Lan Phuong in the second year, it was also the time when the Covid-19 pandemic forced learning activities to switch to online. However, Lan Phuong was always very outstanding, proactive in answering the lecturer's questions, always receptive and wanting to expand the lesson to understand the knowledge deeply."
Mr. Trung added: “Although choosing a difficult topic and writing in English, Lan Phuong was very proactive in self-studying, self-researching and excellently completing her thesis with a perfect score. Currently, Phuong’s thesis is in the editing stage to be turned into a scientific research paper.”
