Nhu Anh is the only child in a family with a father who is a police officer and a mother who works at Military Hospital 121. Her paternal and maternal grandparents both work in the military, so since she was little, Nhu Anh has wanted to wear a soldier's uniform.

In 2018, after graduating from high school, Nhu Anh took the entrance exam to the police academy but failed. She studied Natural Resources and Environment at Can Tho University. After graduating from university, Nhu Anh continued her studies for a master's degree and graduated in December 2024.

Thinking she had missed her childhood dream, at the end of 2024, when she heard that Can Tho City had a quota for recruiting female soldiers, Nhu Anh immediately wrote a volunteer application.

As Anh said, when she learned that this year's military recruitment had a quota for women, she talked to her parents and relatives and received support. However, after submitting her volunteer application, she was worried because she didn't know if she would pass the application review and health check.

"The day I received the decision to join the army, I was so happy I wanted to cry," Nhu Anh shared.

The girl from Can Tho City believes that the military environment is a place to train courage, discipline and many challenges.

“I like the military environment. Discipline and order will help me mature, no matter how difficult it is, I will try to overcome it. As a young person, whether male or female, we have the responsibility to contribute our youth to the country,” Nhu Anh shared and believes that she has enough health and spirit to overcome all difficulties.

The girl also hopes to have the opportunity to serve long-term in the army.

"My grandparents and parents both served in the army, so the dream of becoming a soldier has been in me since I was little," Hien said, adding that his family supported his decision to join the army.

After graduating from high school in 2020, Hien took the entrance exam to the military school but luck did not smile on her. She studied Vocal Music at Can Tho College of Culture and Arts. After that, Hien continued her studies at university, majoring in Music Pedagogy at Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music.

Although she studies music, Hien still dreams of wearing a soldier's uniform. Knowing that this year's military recruitment has a quota for women, even though she is in her second year of university, she still wrote a volunteer application and was overwhelmed with happiness when she received her acceptance letter.

“The day I received the decision to leave for military service, I was so happy. I told my parents and called my grandparents in the North,” Hien shared.

According to Hien, joining the army is arduous, challenging and disciplined, but she promises to be determined to complete all assigned tasks well.

“I am very proud to be born and raised in a family with a revolutionary tradition. Since I was little, I dreamed of becoming a soldier, wearing a blue uniform, serving in the Vietnam People's Army," the Tay Do girl shared, adding, "I really hope that after my military service, I can become a professional soldier."

Ms. Do Kim Phuong, Vice President of the Women's Union of Binh Thuy District and Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Huong - President of the Women's Union of Hung Loi Ward (Ninh Kieu District) both expressed that the two girls are the pride of their families and the locality; they will inspire many young people to participate in fulfilling their sacred duty to the Fatherland.
