The book, which is over 100 pages thick, was published globally by Ukiyoto Publishing in Canada at the end of September 2024. “Magic Runs Wild” is also posted on other international book distribution channels such as: Google book, Library wala.
The novel revolves around a school of fairies, where students are divided into different houses according to their magical abilities: Water, Fire, Nature, Ice, Darkness, and Light.
The two main characters: Lysandra and Isadora, are new students and are chosen to enter the Light House. The two quickly become close friends and experience many conflicts with other students during their studies. When the school encounters an incident, Lysandra and Isadora defy the rules and use all their abilities to protect the safety of the school.
The meaning of maturity, friendship and the importance of kindness are the messages that child author Nguyen Khanh Chi wants to convey to readers through "Magic Runs Wild".
According to Khanh Chi, the inspiration for the novel “Magic Runs Wild” came from her love of the fantasy genre. In it, the female student always wanted to create a world full of magic. However, the characters still have to face real-life challenges, such as growing up and finding their own place. “The combination of magical magic with personal experiences is what inspired me to write this story,” Khanh Chi said.
For the 11-year-old girl, the journey of writing “Magic Runs Wild” was no less interesting and challenging. One of the biggest challenges Khanh Chi faced was the lack of ideas to write, because sometimes she did not know what to write next or how the story should continue. However, Khanh Chi never encountered any difficulties with vocabulary or grammar, and felt quite comfortable writing in English.
The novel "Magic Runs Wild" was published globally by Ukiyoto Publishing in Canada in late September 2024.
Ever since she was little, every night before going to bed, Khanh Chi had a habit of writing short stories in English on the whiteboard in her room, every day. Not only is she passionate about writing, she also loves reading, drawing and ballet.
“I often read history books, fantasy and horror stories. These books contribute to the inspiration for my works, giving me many new ideas. Music creates emotions for my composition sessions, and painting helps me visualize characters and settings more clearly,” the female student said, adding that her personal interests also have a big impact on the composition process.
Writer Kieu Bich Hau - the person who connected "Magic Runs Wild" to international publishers, commented that the novel is a fascinating work, taking readers on a magical journey of friendship and courage, helping to stimulate the imagination of school-age children.
“Thanks to the international learning environment and her existing vocabulary, Khanh Chi can write novels fluently in English. In the novel, the sentences are well expressed by her, the descriptive details are also done meticulously and quite creatively” , writer Kieu Bich Hau commented that Khanh Chi is truly a remarkable young talent.
The female writer added that although she is very passionate about writing stories, the young author is also very cautious about publishing, and even when she finished her work, she was hesitant to share it and did not intend to publish it. After nearly a year of psychological work, Khanh Chi overcame her fears and agreed to publish her work to readers around the world.
Holding her first novel published and released globally, Khanh Chi was happy and proud, because this was something she had never thought of. “It is exciting to know that readers around the world will experience my story in their own way. Above all, I would like to thank my family and those who have helped me along the way,” Khanh Chi expressed.
After releasing “Magic Runs Wild”, the Hanoi student hopes readers can expect more stories from her.
Currently, Khanh Chi is eager to learn about new ideas and topics. Although she wants to become a lawyer in the future, she will continue to be passionate about writing, so that she can share more interesting stories with readers.
