Tran Thi Hoang Uyen (30 years old) is known by the amateur running community with the nickname Uyen Gai Me with an impressive collection of awards. Notably, she was in the top 2 in the 70 km distance at all 3 famous trail races Dalat Ultra Trail, Vietnam Trail Marathon, Vietnam Mountain Marathon in 2022 alone. In 2023, she won the 45 km female race at Lam Dong Trail and completed the 100 km distance at Doi Inthanon Thailand by UTMB 2023.

3 THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND TO BE HEALTHIER

Sharing about how to maintain a healthy physical and mental life in a stressful career, Tran Thi Hoang Uyen said there are 3 factors that she highly values.

Firstly, Uyen always spends time practicing sports regularly such as jogging, cycling, swimming, yoga, pilates... to maintain a healthy and flexible body. Regarding exercise, you need to listen to your body and be flexible in your situation: practice at home or on the field, and practice any sport, as long as the body has movement. This helps the body maintain metabolism, increase nutrient absorption, and especially makes the skin healthier and the spirit more refreshing.

Second, Uyen focuses on a balanced diet, choosing healthy foods, and giving herself one day each week to eat whatever she wants.

Sufficient sleep and quality sleep are the third factors that Uyen is particularly interested in. For Uyen, sleep both restores health and improves mental health. Specifically, Uyen gets enough sleep from 6 - 7 hours every night, and takes many short naps during the day (20 - 30 minutes). Thanks to that, the body and mind always maintain a good level of energy to complete the job.

3 THINGS TO DO TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR MENTAL HEALTH

Sharing more about how she takes care of her mental health, runner Hoang Uyen said: First of all, she sets healthy boundaries in relationships and work, which will help prevent burnout and relieve stress. Next, Uyen always takes time for herself, doing things she loves such as taking care of pets, bonsai, watching movies, reading books... Besides, Uyen believes that participating in psychological therapy when necessary and not being afraid to seek help from experts is important in each person's journey of taking care of their mental health.

"We women should work effectively, pursue our passions, manage our time well, live healthily and share positive energy with everyone around us. Most importantly, love and take care of ourselves. We may be busy but we always need to live beautifully, live healthily, and live fully in every moment," Uyen shared.

HOW TO START RUNNING?

Talking about the running sport she is pursuing, Uyen said she usually runs in the morning to help stimulate metabolism, increase blood circulation, and make her feel more alert. Running also improves sleep and reduces stress.

According to Uyen, it is not necessary to practice every day, usually she practices 2-3 days a week. From her own experience, Uyen believes that everyone can start with 3-5 km to get used to it. When you can arrange your time more flexibly, you can gradually increase the number of kilometers and the number of running sessions per week.

If you intend to participate in a race, according to Uyen, people should not wait until the day of the race to put on their shoes and practice and run 15-20 km/time. This will easily lead to injury and is not safe for both health and spirit.
