At the age of 38, Dr. Tran Phan Thuy Linh (from Dong Loc town, Can Loc) has just been honored with the title of Associate Professor (PGS) and is also one of the three youngest female PGS from Ha Tinh to be awarded this title.

Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Phan Thuy Linh (born in 1985) is a lecturer at the Physics Department, Hanoi National University of Education. Before pursuing a career in scientific research, she was a student at Hue National School and then graduated from the Physics Education Department (University of Education, Hue University). In 2014, she was awarded a doctorate by Osaka University (Japan) in Precision Science & Technology and Applied Physics.

In early November this year, the State Council of Professors announced the list of 588 candidates meeting the standards for the title of Professor and Associate Professor in 2023. Dr. Tran Phan Thuy Linh is one of 24 candidates from Ha Tinh who were awarded the title. Notably, Ms. Tran Phan Thuy Linh is one of the three youngest female Associate Professors from Ha Tinh to be awarded the title this year, alongside Associate Professor of Psychology Nguyen Thi Ngoc Be (born in 1986, from Cam Xuyen) and Associate Professor of Education Tran Thi Ngoc Anh (born in 1986, from Thach Ha).

Sharing the reason for choosing to pursue Physics, Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Phan Thuy Linh smiled and said: "Sometimes the career path I choose is like a destiny." She said that since she was in school, she has been passionate about Physics, always recognizing the beauty of formulas and laws. However, whether or not she can pursue this career depends on her own efforts.

Ms. Tran Phan Thuy Linh participated in the 8th Natural Science Conference for young scientists, masters and doctors nationwide in 2023

With her passion and great support from her teachers, Tran Phan Thuy Linh soon chose the path of research in Theoretical Physics. She said that this major has the task of explaining and predicting experiments, so it is necessary to be closely connected to the phenomena of life.

"My research direction mainly focuses on the structural properties, electronic properties, optical properties and transmission properties of materials... In addition to research and exploration, I often read newspapers and update newly published works to acquire more information, knowledge and new directions in science," Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Phan Thuy Linh said.

Up to now, Ms. Thuy Linh has published about 29 scientific articles, of which 18 scientific articles were published in prestigious international journals; published books; participated in ministerial-level research topics...

Sharing about being awarded the title of Associate Professor, Tran Phan Thuy Linh said: “This is a personal honor and a turning point for my teaching and research work. The title of Associate Professor is also a motivation for me to make more efforts and promote my responsibility in teaching and scientific research.”

In addition to scientific research, Associate Professor Dr. Tran Phan Thuy Linh is also deeply attached to the teaching profession, always inspiring passion in students.

According to Ms. Thuy Linh, scientific research is a difficult and thorny journey. During 20 years of pursuing research, especially in the field of Physics, she has stayed up all night many times with numbers, calculations, and reference materials. In particular, she has to make more efforts to both achieve success in teaching and research, and fulfill her role as a wife and mother. The young female Associate Professor from Ha Tinh said that her family, husband and children are great supports, always supporting her wholeheartedly to pursue her academic path.

Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Phan Thuy Linh advised: "Every profession has its difficulties, glory and tears. Young people should always be passionate, strive to pursue their dreams and devote themselves, and they will certainly achieve success."

Actively participating in Youth Union and association activities with young people is also a way for Ms. Thuy Linh to balance her life.

Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Phan Thuy Linh believes that the results she has achieved are just the beginning and the journey of learning and research is still very long. In the future, she will continue to nurture her passion for learning, teaching, researching and learning more from teachers, domestic and international experts to improve her knowledge and skills, contributing a small part to the education career of the country.
