Doan Thi Kim Quyen, an MC, said she feels more confident and successful at work after losing weight from 65 kg to 50 kg.
Since childhood, Quyen's body was petite. However, due to overeating, when she entered university, she reached 65 kg, her clothes went from size S, M to XL, but she never thought about losing weight.
After a year of studying, Quyen suddenly changed direction to pursue a career as an MC while also going to school. During this time, she often rented dresses to wear to the programs.
In early 2020, during a preparation, the outfit she had just rented suddenly burst due to the MC's overweight body. To solve the urgent situation, Quyen rented new clothes. However, the seams continued to burst again when she wore them. At this time, Quyen knew she needed to change, she was determined to lose weight to get back in shape.

After much consultation, in March 2020, Quyen chose to follow the keto diet, focusing on fat, protein and carbohydrates, then taking advantage of a backup system called ketosis to force the liver to use fat for energy, thereby losing weight. Doctors said that this diet can be effective in the short term, but is often counterproductive in the long term.
For that reason, although Quyen applies the keto diet, she is not too strict, but sets a roadmap for the body to adapt, gradually reducing the amount of sugar and starch intake instead of cutting it out immediately.
Quyen prioritizes vegetables and good fats. Protein supplements are flexible according to her preferences, but she prioritizes steaming, boiling, and minimally seasoning foods. In addition, she does not consume carbonated soft drinks or greasy foods. The amount of sugar in her diet is also limited, prioritizing only natural sugar from food.
At the same time, Quyen applies the principle of eating backwards to lose weight. She often drinks water before eating, then prioritizes eating vegetables and finally meat and fish.
According to experts, eating vegetables before meals will help stimulate the digestive system. This activity is not too heavy but takes place gently and smoothly because vegetables are rich in fiber and not too dry and hard.
If you eat rice or meat right at the beginning, your stomach lining will have to secrete a lot of digestive juices to digest dry, hard foods - which can easily lead to stomach pain. Therefore, the habit of eating vegetables first will be beneficial for your digestive system as well as the way your body absorbs food.
Filling your empty stomach with vegetables will make you feel full quickly, not wanting to eat more later. From here, we can control the sugar content, fat content... in food better.

In addition to changing her diet, Quyen also combines physical exercise 3-5 days/week to make the fat burning process more effective.
Every morning, after waking up, the female MC usually spends 15-30 minutes doing cardio exercises to burn off the remaining energy. In the evening, when she has more time, Quyen will alternate between doing yoga or aerobics for 15-60 minutes. Occasionally, she will spend 1-2 hours jogging to change the workout atmosphere and avoid boredom.
According to Very Well Health, regular exercise is one of the best ways to reduce bad cholesterol (LDL) and increase good cholesterol (HDL), thereby reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease. Experts point out some exercises that help regulate cholesterol levels effectively.
A 2012 study published in BMC Public Health found that aerobic exercise, resistance training, and core strength training are both necessary and effective for weight loss, fat loss, and cardiovascular fitness compared to regular cardio. Some effective exercises to lower cholesterol naturally include walking, jogging, cycling, swimming, weight lifting, and yoga.
Whenever she has free time, Quyen practices abdominal breathing, which helps bring more air to her lungs. This exercise not only increases the effectiveness of breathing and makes her body healthier, but also helps her work as a host.
After 6 months, Quyen lost 10 kg, down to 55 kg, her body gradually slimmed down. However, a year later, Quyen gained 3 kg, up to 58 kg. At this time, she started losing weight for the second time to have a slimmer figure. In March 2022, the female MC lost 50 kg.
After two weight loss sessions, Quyen lost a total of 15 kg, her waistline from 77 cm to 65 cm and has maintained it until now.

To avoid the counterproductive effects of long-term dieting, after successfully losing weight, Quyen stopped following a fixed regimen and ate more freely. However, she still prioritized lots of green vegetables, good fats, healthy foods and maintained home workouts to improve endurance and burn calories and excess fat.
"I have now switched from XL to S and M size clothes, thanks to which my work has become more convenient, I am more confident and love myself more," Quyen said. She added that there are many diets and exercise regimens, each person also has different preferences and physical conditions. Therefore, the female MC advises everyone not to follow others but to listen to their bodies, choose what is right for themselves to achieve the best results.
