Female TV presenter loses 15 kg after her clothes ripped twice.

Ho Chi Minh City – After twice tearing the seams of rented clothes, 23-year-old Kim Quyen lost 15 kg and 12 cm from her waistline thanks to a reverse Keto diet and home workouts.

Doan Thi Kim Quyen, a TV presenter, said she feels more confident and successful at work after losing weight, going from 65 kg to 50 kg.

From a young age, Quyen had a petite figure. However, due to excessive eating, by the time she entered university, she weighed 65 kg, and her clothes went from size S and M to XL, yet she never thought about losing weight.

A year after starting university, Quyen unexpectedly changed direction, pursuing a career as an MC while simultaneously attending school. During this time, she frequently rented dresses and outfits to wear for various programs.

In early 2020, while getting ready for an event, the rented outfit unexpectedly ripped at the seams due to the female MC's overweight figure. To resolve the urgent situation, Quyen rented new clothes. However, the seams ripped again when she put them on. At this point, Quyen knew she needed a change, and she decided to lose weight to regain her figure.

After much research, in March 2020, Quyen chose to follow the keto diet, focusing on consuming fats, proteins, and carbohydrates, then utilizing a backup system called ketosis to force the liver to use fat for energy, thereby losing weight. Doctors noted that this diet may be effective in the short term, but often backfires when followed long-term.

Therefore, although Quyen adopted the keto diet, she wasn't overly strict. Instead, she set a schedule to allow her body to adapt, gradually reducing her intake of sugar and carbohydrates rather than cutting them out completely all at once.

Quyen prioritizes vegetables and healthy fats. Protein intake is flexible according to preference, but she prefers steamed or boiled dishes with minimal seasoning. Additionally, she avoids sugary soft drinks and greasy foods. Sugar intake is also limited, with a preference for natural sugars from food.

At the same time, Quyen applied the reverse eating principle to lose weight. She usually drank water before meals, then prioritized eating vegetables, and finally meat and fish.

According to experts, eating vegetables before meals helps stimulate the digestive system. This activity is not strenuous but gentle and smooth because vegetables are rich in fiber and not too dry or hard.

Eating rice and meat right before meals will cause the stomach lining to secrete more digestive juices to break down dry, hard foods, easily leading to stomach pain. Therefore, the habit of eating vegetables first is beneficial for the digestive system and how the body absorbs food.

Filling your empty stomach with vegetables will make you feel full quickly, reducing your desire to eat more afterward. This allows us to better control the sugar and fat content of our food.

In addition to changing her diet, Quyen also incorporates physical exercise 3-5 days a week to make the fat-burning process more effective.

Every morning, after waking up, the female MC usually spends 15-30 minutes doing cardio exercises to burn off any remaining energy. In the evening, when she has more time, Quyen will alternate between yoga or aerobics for 15-60 minutes. Occasionally, she will spend 1-2 hours jogging to change up her workout routine and avoid boredom.

According to Very Well Health, regular exercise is one of the best ways to lower bad cholesterol (LDL) and increase good cholesterol (HDL), thereby reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease. Experts point out several exercises that effectively help regulate cholesterol levels.

A 2012 study in BMC Public Health showed that both aerobic and resistance training, focusing on core strength, is essential and highly effective for weight loss, fat reduction, and cardiovascular health compared to regular cardio. Some effective exercises for naturally lowering cholesterol include walking, jogging, cycling, swimming, weightlifting, and yoga.

Whenever she has free time, Quyen practices abdominal breathing, which helps to bring more air to her lungs. This exercise not only improves breathing efficiency and makes her healthier, but it also helps with her work as a presenter.

After 6 months, Quyen lost 10 kg, weighing 55 kg, and her body gradually became slimmer. However, a year later, Quyen gained 3 kg, reaching 58 kg. At this point, she started a second weight loss program to achieve a more slender figure. In March 2022, the female MC reduced her weight to 50 kg.

Through two weight loss programs, Quyen lost a total of 15 kg, her waist circumference decreased from 77 cm to 65 cm, and has maintained that figure to this day.

To avoid the negative effects of long-term dieting, after successfully losing weight, Quyen stopped following a fixed diet and ate more freely. However, she still prioritized plenty of green vegetables, healthy fats, and other nutritious foods, and maintained home workouts to improve endurance and burn calories and excess fat.

"I've now switched from XL to S and M sizes, which has made my work easier, and I feel more confident and love myself more," Quyen said. She added that there are many different diets and exercise routines, and everyone has different preferences and physical conditions. Therefore, the female MC advises people not to follow others but to listen to their bodies and choose what suits them best to achieve the best results.
