Speaking to the press on the morning of May 22, Dr. Tran Quang Trung, Hanoi Medical University Hospital - the doctor who directly treated Ms. Ly - said that after more than 1 month of treatment, her condition has improved a lot compared to when she was admitted to the hospital.
Heart and lung functions have gradually improved. However, due to the spinal cord injury, urinary tract function and leg mobility cannot be fully restored.
As the person who received emergency care and accompanied Ms. Ly for over a month, Dr. Trung shared that Ly is a doctor so she understands her condition very well. Although her recovery is difficult, Ly is very optimistic and complies with the treatment regimen.
"Currently, the doctors have developed a treatment plan for Ly and it will be a very long journey. The most serious problem is the spine, spinal cord and paralysis of both legs, requiring the patient to make a lot of effort. Currently, Ly cannot sit by himself and needs early exercise support to avoid muscle atrophy.
After stable medical treatment, it is expected that in the next 1-2 days, Ms. Ly will be transferred to Bach Mai Hospital or Hanoi Medical University Hospital, branch 2, for rehabilitation. The biggest goal is to help her sit in a wheelchair," Dr. Trung informed.
After more than a month of waiting and taking care of his daughter by her hospital bed, Mr. Thanh (Ms. Ly's father) shared that this was probably the longest time he had been with his daughter.
As a soldier stationed far from home, Mr. Thanh did not have much time to spend with his family. He also did not expect that the longest time he spent with his son would be when his son was in a hospital bed.
"Since childhood, my child has been very independent and optimistic and still is. On the long journey ahead, the family will take turns taking care of him, accompanying him and waiting for miracles and miracles to come," he shared.
Although it has been a difficult month, the family has received much attention from the community, sharing from doctors, friends and relatives. The family is very grateful for everyone's concern for Ly.
Regarding the information that the leaders of K Hospital (Tan Trieu facility) informed that after Dr. Ly recovers, they will arrange a job position suitable for her health, Mr. Thanh shared that this will be a great motivation for Ly to continue fighting with the hope of being able to return to work to treat patients.
