People's Artist Tuong Vi passed away on May 11, at the age of 86. The funeral took place at 7:00 a.m. on May 14 at the Funeral Home of Military Hospital 17, Da Nang City. The memorial service was held at 12:00 p.m. the same day, and the coffin was buried at the Military Zone 5 Cemetery. Healing singing People's Artist Tuong Vi was born into a family with no artistic tradition. In the years 1950 - 1951, almost every night, soldiers had artistic activities in the yard of Tuong Vi's grandmother's house. Thanks to that, Tuong Vi knew revolutionary songs and Van Cao's lyrical music without realizing it. After that, the French bombed, and her grandmother died from a bullet wound, causing Tuong Vi to volunteer to join the army at the age of 16 as a nurse at Military Hospital 108. While taking care of wounded soldiers, she often played the guitar and sang for them, so she was transferred to the General Political Department's Song and Dance Troupe to work professionally. Since then, she has become the first generation of artists to sing for wounded soldiers, helping them forget their pain and feel secure in their treatment.

During the resistance war against the US to save the country, People's Artist Tuong Vi worked at the General Political Department's Art Troupe. Having frequent opportunities to meet and perform for the army, she was honored to be remembered and loved by President Ho Chi Minh and General Vo Nguyen Giap. When People's Artist Tuong Vi visited General Vo Nguyen Giap's house, he often asked her to accompany her on the guitar. Having spent her whole life singing for the army, Tuong Vi is a rare artist whose name is included in the Vietnam Military Encyclopedia published in 1996. 'Legend' of the birds singing in 'The girl sharpening spikes' People's Artist Tuong Vi possesses a coloratura soprano voice, which is quite rare compared to most lyrical voices in the same genre. Graduated from the Vocal Department of the Hanoi Conservatory of Music (now the Vietnam National Academy of Music) and the Sofia Conservatory (Bulgaria), she has a solid professional foundation. Throughout her career, she has successfully performed a variety of genres from semi-classical, revolutionary to lyrical and folk songs. Among the countless songs associated with her name such as: The Ta Lu zither, You are the Po Lang flower, The girl of the La river, The bird that announces good news, The ferryman on the Po Co river, The shadow of the Kơ-nia tree, Suoi Lenin ... Tuong Vi is recognized as the best singer of the song Co gai vột chồng . Notably, later few audiences knew that the part where the performer imitates the sound of birds chirping was Tuong Vi's own creation, not in the original version of musician Hoang Hiep. To take advantage of her strong point of a colorful soprano voice as well as wanting to add the color of the great mountains and forests to her performance, she used the staccato technique (singing bouncing, singing split) with her head voice to imitate the sound of birds in an extremely vivid and impressive way. The highest note in the staccato note series is E flat 6 - affirming the female artist's level of vocal technique. Later, many generations of singers singing Co gai vột chồng almost by default included the part imitating the sound of birds chirping. Tuong Vi has never corrected the information about the staccato piece she created because she considered it a small matter. Charity and relationship with the star's daughter-in -law. On the day she reached retirement age, People's Artist Tuong Vi continued another journey in her career because General Vo Nguyen Giap held her hand and told her: "Vietnamese veterans retire but do not rest".

She focuses on training and inspiring the younger generation. The house in a small alley at No. 24, B3 Mai Dich Street, Hanoi became a place to nurture the talents of many famous artists such as Thanh Lam, Khanh Thi, Giang Son, Thai Thuy Linh, Hoai Phuong, Ha Chuong... Her students still affectionately call her "Mother Vi". Tuong Vi is very proud and happy when seeing her students succeed, taking that as motivation to continue to guide young people on the path of art. Tuong Vi established the Center for Loving Arts to Nurture Young Talents under the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society in Hanoi, then in Da Nang and Quang Nam. She and other musicians, artists, dedicated teachers, and philanthropists at home and abroad received disadvantaged, disabled, and unlucky children with talent to nurture and teach them their talents and foreign languages. The story of People's Artist Tuong Vi's life is even more interesting when she has a daughter-in-law who is a star. Specifically, singer Ngoc Anh was once married to musician Tran Hung - her only son with musician Tran Chuong.

For a long time, Tuong Vi was often asked by the press about her relationship with her daughter-in-law Ngoc Anh. She said that when Ngoc Anh first became a daughter-in-law, the two had many differences. Tuong Vi was a singer serving in the army, so her clothes and demeanor were neat, while Ngoc Anh was "too modern", almost the opposite of her mother-in-law. Later, the mother and daughter understood each other more and more, and could share many things. When settling in the US, Tran Hung and Ngoc Anh repeatedly offered to take Tuong Vi to live with them, but she refused because she had many unfinished business. Missing her child, the female artist could only make video calls. When Tran Hung and Ngoc Anh divorced, the relationship between People's Artist Tuong Vi and her ex-daughter-in-law was still good. Upon hearing the news of People's Artist Tuong Vi's death, Ngoc Anh sent a loving message: "Goodbye, dear mother. Thank you for always missing me and my grandchildren. We couldn't come back in time to say goodbye, but we will come back to visit you often like we have always visited you in the past months, Mom. I love you so much." Through the loving sharing of family and colleagues, the life and career of People's Artist Tuong Vi appear full, brilliant and fulfilling.
