On December 18th, the People's Committee of Hai Chau District ( Da Nang City) announced that the VSK High-Tech Medical Testing and Diagnosis Center (hereinafter referred to as the Center), belonging to VSK Central - Western Highlands General Hospital Joint Stock Company, has paid administrative fines after an inspection by authorities following reports of selling dietary supplements while providing free testing in Da Nang City.

As Thanh Nien newspaper reported, the Health Department of the Hai Chau District People's Committee, in coordination with other agencies, inspected and fined the center 9.5 million VND for failing to display prices of goods and services and for the absence of the person responsible for professional matters at the retail pharmacy during operating hours.

The center has paid the fine, rectified the violations, and fully met all the conditions and requirements stipulated by law for other inspection aspects.

In a document sent to Thanh Nien newspaper , the Center stated that it was granted an operating license in November 2023 and had coordinated with sponsors to organize free general health check-ups and tests for the elderly and those at risk of chronic diseases.

The free program includes transportation, breakfast, lunch, general check-ups and tests including hematology, liver function, blood lipids, diabetes, osteoporosis screening, and lifestyle, nutrition, and exercise advice. Fees will only be charged if customers require advanced, specialized services or purchase functional products.

Notably, the Center affirmed that it has no policy of selling goods without transparency and committed that all goods have specific origins, sources, and uses; it requires product suppliers to provide serious, standardized, and professional advice.

However, while people were waiting for their free test results, some staff members provided advice on functional products, but the advice was incomplete, leading to misunderstandings for customers.

"We also require the product suppliers (who have sold to the people) to resolve any quality issues that the people complain about, ensuring their rights are protected, and even refunding the money if necessary," a representative from the Center stated.

According to the explanation previously given to the Health Department of the Hai Chau District People's Committee, the center also confirmed that some staff members selling functional products to people while they waited for free test results had caused misunderstandings due to incomplete advice.
