At the age of 36, Noo Phuoc Thinh belongs to the generation of singers who hope the audience will accept their entire song instead of just knowing a sentence or a "viral" part on social networks.
Evening of July 16, Noo Phuoc Thinh release the song "Kidding me hurts" returned after four years and the noisy loss of eight hit songs in his career.
The song is in the synthpop genre, has a strong rhythm, not an "easy to listen, easy to hit" ballad.
50 ballads available, but want to take the hard road
Nowadays, many newly released songs focus on having a catchy melody, a "trendy" lyric to "go viral" through platforms with many young people like TikTok.
Noo Phuoc Thinh shares his views on this way of promoting music:
"I'm not a singer who relies on a single foundation, a single piece of music to live. I rely on the whole song.
I want my audience to remember the whole song and the singer's face when they listen to music, not just remember a cut part of the music, then forget it tomorrow and remember another part.
There are artists who contribute a lot and are very famous, but when listening to the whole song, people have to wait until that sentence to know.
Some listeners were just waiting for that sentence, and had never heard of the rest of the song before.
To be As a long-time artist, Noo Phuoc Thinh is aware that he is not a singer who only serves one platform.
Regarding choosing the synthpop music genre which is popular in the world but not sure if it will be easy to create a hit in Vietnam, Noo Phuoc Thinh said he has up to 50 ballad songs in his arsenal, if he wants he can release them at any time.
But he felt he had to choose a more difficult path to challenge himself.
"Market ballad "There are many and easy ways, but I don't want to choose the easy path for myself. If I had chosen ballad, I could have come back two years ago" - he said.
Noo Phuoc Thinh was in crisis and considered retiring.
After four years, Noo Phuoc Thinh explains why he took such a long break from music:
"For the past four years, I have been in a light relationship with many ups and downs. I also suffered a lot of pressure from life and family. Then there was a crisis. I went through a very big crisis.
Looking back now, I don't think I grew up so fast. I used to think that everything was already arranged for me.
One day, things didn't go as planned, not like what I imagined anymore, I was shocked, and had a lot of wounds in my heart."
As a singer Beloved by the audience, he once lost his passion for singing during a time of crisis. At times, he thought he could no longer live with his passion for singing and only had to be forced because of too much pressure.
He confided: "There were several times I thought about retiring and living a normal life like everyone else.
But thanks to the love of the audience, thanks to the "jerky CapCut" clips on social networks that the audience made for me, I had more motivation to overcome those storms.
Today, I am in a stable state of mind".
After MV Just kidding, it hurts. Noo Phuoc Thinh will hold a showcase Noo's Special Night on July 21 and held an autograph session for fans.
