Conquer the most demanding markets

The batch of honey “introduced” to the UK market this time is a product of Green Life Cooperative. The Cooperative has built a specific production orientation since 2017 so that the members of the Cooperative can standardize the technical steps from care, harvesting and packaging.

In the livestock production process, VietGAP standards are applied and processed according to ISO22000 standards. Although the quantity is not much, it is considered an important step forward to help OCOP Hoa Binh products in general and honey in particular to have a presence in one of the most demanding markets.

RYB Company is responsible for packing export goods according to export standards and transporting them to import markets. Through exploration, survey and testing, the company has highly appreciated the quality of Hoa Binh's OCOP products, in which Kim Boi wild honey will be a highly competitive product in the UK market thanks to its viscosity and special flavor of wild flowers.

To get the first batch of honey that meets the requirements for export to the UK market, RYB Company had to spend more than 1 year negotiating with partners, adjusting production, processing and packaging methods according to UK standards and regulations. The first batch of honey to the UK was harvested from the natural forest of Thuong Tien, Kim Boi district.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thanh Huong - CEO of RYB Company, the UK is a demanding market with strict regulations on plant quarantine, food hygiene and safety management, and traceability. However, if we seize the opportunity and ensure the supply of quality products that meet the above requirements, the picture of market expansion will be very bright.

Data from many years ago shows that the EU market is still the world's largest customer for honey, accounting for 22% of total global consumption, with Germany in the lead, accounting for 23% of total honey consumed in Europe (about 85,000 tons), the UK about 12%, France 10%...

In Ha Giang, since the beginning of the year, there have been 3 agricultural products in Xin Man district that have met quality standards for export to the Japanese market through official channels.

Three agricultural products for export include pickled radish, pickled shallots and pickled buffalo ginger. Since the beginning of the year, Xin Man district has cooperated with Vietnam - Misaki Company Limited to export 80 tons of pickled radish, 45 tons of pickled ginger and 34 tons of pickled shallots.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Xin Man district, the connection between people and businesses from planting, caring, processing, and consumption has produced agricultural products that meet export requirements and standards. This is the result of the efforts of local authorities and authorities in implementing the chain of links and connections with businesses that purchase agricultural products of the district.

The value chain linkage model ensures stable and sustainable output, increasing people's income 3-4 times compared to corn cultivation. The raw material areas for growing radish and buffalo ginger are mainly in Xin Man and Nan Ma communes; the raw material areas for growing pickled shallots are in Nan Ma and Ban Diu communes. Currently, Vietnam - Misaki Company Limited is building a processing factory in Nan Ma commune, facilitating the purchase and processing of agricultural products for export. In addition, the company has also invited Japanese experts to directly instruct farmers in the raw material areas on planting and care techniques...

Efforts to increase export turnover

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development highly appreciates the efforts of localities, business communities, cooperatives, farmers, etc. in production and export to achieve positive results.

Accordingly, in the past 9 months, most agricultural export groups increased, contributing to the turnover reaching more than 46 billion USD, up 21%. In addition, the export prices of many agricultural products also increased compared to the same period, thereby helping businesses and farmers gain significant profits.

Mr. Phung Duc Tien - Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development - acknowledged that the above results were thanks to the policy of restructuring the entire agricultural sector in recent times, which has been implemented drastically and in the right direction. The model of converting from agricultural production to agricultural economy has been widely spread and received strong support from localities, cooperatives, farmers, etc. However, in order for the agricultural sector to achieve an export turnover of 55 billion USD in 2024, there is still much work to be done in the last months of the year.

In addition to key markets such as the US, China, Japan, EU, etc., the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is currently coordinating with the Ministry of Industry and Trade, embassies, businesses, etc. to promote agricultural exports to the Middle East, Africa, South America, etc. At the same time, it continues to support businesses in trade promotion, finding import partners; removing barriers set by countries and increasing official exports to reduce risks. In addition, it focuses on building brands for agricultural products to build trust with global consumers and sustainably participate in the global value chain.

It can be seen that with the support of ministries, branches, and functional agencies, and the participation of localities in strengthening production direction, creating quality-assured raw material areas, meeting the product processing process. The key agricultural products of localities have gradually formed high-value goods and contributed to promoting and strongly consuming them in domestic and foreign markets.
