Visiting the orange orchard of Mr. Tran Danh Dai (Van Yen commune, Van Don district, Quang Ninh province) during the peak season, we were amazed by the branches heavily laden with fruit. Thanks to organic farming methods, the orange trees thrive, producing sweet fruit and significantly higher yields compared to traditional farming methods using chemical fertilizers.

With a warm smile, Mr. Dai took us on a tour of his orange orchard, while also taking photos and videos of the ripe, juicy oranges displaying their golden hues across the hillsides.

"I will post these images on social media and sales groups to introduce and promote my family's agricultural products. Currently, I mainly sell online; customers see the posts and message me to place orders," Dai happily shared.

A few years ago, Mr. Dai created several sales groups on Facebook, primarily to promote agricultural products and create a space for farmers to post and sell their goods. According to him, since adding social media as a sales channel, agricultural products are not only sold more easily but also fetch much higher prices compared to traditional markets.

"Occasionally, I also livestream directly from the orange orchard so that customers can clearly see and understand the harvesting process and the quality of the product. Through social media platforms, I've also gained many loyal customers; now, every time I post, customers place orders," Mr. Dai said.

Thanks to social media, Mr. Dai not only sold his produce but also promoted his orange orchard, thereby developing an experiential tourism model.

It's not just Mr. Dai's family; many farmers in Quang Ninh have been gradually adopting social media platforms to promote and sell their agricultural products. One example is Ms. Dao Thi Binh (Head of the Loan Binh Tea Cooperative in Quang Thinh commune, Hai Ha district), who, despite being in her late 60s, still regularly livestreams to introduce her products.

During live streams, Ms. Binh provides detailed information about the process of planting, caring for, harvesting, and processing tea according to VietGAP standards. As a result, the unit's revenue has increased by 30% compared to before.

Furthermore, in recent times, state management agencies in the province have actively supported individuals, organizations, and businesses, especially those operating in the agricultural sector, in participating in digital consumer platforms. On May 23, 2024, the Quang Ninh Center for Trade Promotion and Development organized two livestream sessions introducing the early-ripening Phuong Nam lychee, attracting tens of thousands of viewers and interactions.

Sharing his thoughts on the effectiveness of this initiative, Mr. Bui Van Tra, Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Phuong Nam Ward (Uong Bi City), said: "For farmers, selling through e-commerce is a very new direction, but its potential and strengths are clearly visible. In 2024, thanks to livestreaming, Phuong Nam's early-ripening lychees became more widely known to people both domestically and internationally, especially young people. The economic value is also more effective; each kilogram of lychees can sell for 50,000-60,000 VND, while traditional sales usually fetch 35,000-40,000 VND/kg."

In 2024, the Quang Ninh Provincial Farmers' Association organized 22 training conferences for 1,905 participants on digital transformation in agriculture and rural areas. Simultaneously, they provided guidance on creating accounts, writing articles, and promoting products and services for posting on e-commerce platforms and social networks; using safe and reliable electronic payment methods for electronic transactions; participating in the database system for tracing the origin of safe agricultural, forestry, and aquatic products in the area; and applying information technology for traceability using QR codes, ensuring transparency for consumers.

With the involvement of all levels of government and a spirit of learning, farmers are increasingly proactively applying digital transformation, thereby promoting and selling agricultural products more quickly and effectively.
