Reuters reported yesterday that former US President Donald Trump has just arrived in Michigan to campaign, and this is his first contact with voters since he was fined $355 million by a court in New York state and banned from doing business in the state for fraud.
Mr. Trump campaigned in Michigan on February 17.
In Michigan, Mr. Trump said that if elected, he would change the economic policies of incumbent President Joe Biden to "save" the American auto industry. According to Mr. Trump, the current government's policies are causing Americans to lose "tens of thousands of jobs."
Both the Democratic and Republican parties will hold their primary elections in Michigan on February 27. In 2020, Mr. Biden won the state by just 3 percentage points over Mr. Trump, and Michigan is expected to be a battleground again in the November election.
In a related development, Democratic Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib is urging Michigan voters not to vote for Mr. Biden, according to NBC. Ms. Tlaib is Palestinian-American and has expressed dissatisfaction with the Biden administration's support for Israel in the Hamas-Israel conflict.
