Gia Mieu is an ancient village in Tong Son district (now Ha Trung district, Thanh Hoa province). This place is identified as the homeland, the origin of the Nguyen dynasty and is considered the land of Quy Huong, Tong Son district is Quy Huyen, recorded in the official history of the Nguyen dynasty as Tong Phuoc Tri, Truong Phuc Gia, Tong Huu Si...

In Gia Mieu, hundreds of years ago, the Nguyen Dynasty built many architectural works such as Truong Nguyen Tomb, Trieu Tuong Temple, and Gia Mieu Communal House. This is the burial place, worshiping and offering ceremonies related to the ancestors of the Nguyen Dynasty.

Through many historical events, the architectural works here have been more or less destroyed and lost. However, the vestiges of the shape of a sacred land of "Rolling Dragon", the development of the emperor still remain intact and sacred. Looking down from Thien Ton mountain is a valley field, embraced and protected by 2 rows of low hills with lush vegetation, surrounded by a few mounds of earth blocking the front.

Event - The origin of the Nguyen Dynasty

Trieu Tuong Mausoleum was built on a beautiful piece of land on Trieu Tuong mountain, Ha Long commune, Ha Trung district.

According to historical records, after his father died and his brother was persecuted, Lord Nguyen Hoang, the eldest son of Grand Tutor Hung Quoc Cong Nguyen Kim, sought advice from Trang Trinh Nguyen Binh Khiem. Later, Lord Nguyen Hoang asked the court to go to Thuan Hoa to plan to build a separate career for the Nguyen family.

In 1558, Lord Nguyen Hoang crossed Hoanh Son to the South to establish a career and founded Dang Trong, expanding the territory, laying the foundation for the glorious career of the Nguyen Dynasty with 9 generations of lords and 13 generations of kings.

According to Mr. Nguyen Huu Phan, the Guardian of Dinh Gia Mieu, there were 5 kings of the Nguyen Dynasty, including Gia Long, Minh Mang, Thieu Tri, Thanh Thai and Bao Dai, who came to Gia Mieu and to the foot of Thien Ton mountain where Trieu Tuong mausoleum is located to pay homage to their ancestors. Currently, Truong Nguyen Mausoleum (Trieu Tuong Mausoleum), on the stone stele in this mausoleum and temple area, there is still engraved a translation of the stele of King Minh Mang with the title:

"Great land, sacred lord

Born Trieu To

Cultivating morality

"Show the holy martial arts".

According to the writer's notes, on Trieu Tuong (Thien Ton) mountain is Truong Nguyen Tomb, also known as Trieu Tuong Tomb. This is the burial place of Mr. Nguyen Kim (ie Trieu To Tinh Hoang De and Empress Nguyen Dynasty - the father and mother of Lord Tien Nguyen Hoang).

There is currently a stele house and stele at the foot of Trieu Tuong mountain to worship. Due to historical factors, the exact location of the tomb is currently unknown. Every time there is a ceremony, the Nguyen family and dignitaries come here, then head towards Trieu Tuong mountain to worship.

About 1km down the mountain is Trieu Tuong Temple, located in the fields in the valley at the foot of the mountain. The entire Trieu Tuong Temple area is divided into 3 main areas: Nguyen Temple (temple worshiping Nguyen Kim and Nguyen Hoang), the eastern area is Trung Quoc Cong (temple worshiping Nguyen Kim's father), the western area was formerly the military camp and residence of the servants who looked after the mausoleum.

Next to the village entrance is the Gia Mieu Communal House, which was built by King Gia Long in 1806, at the same time as the construction of Trieu Tuong Mausoleum to commemorate the land of Quy Huong, the origin of the Nguyen Dynasty. The Gia Mieu Communal House with its wooden architecture was built on a massive area of over 374 square meters, which was very large at that time.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Phan (70 years old), who looks after Gia Mieu village communal house, said that this communal house worships the village's tutelary god Nguyen Cong Duan, a meritorious mandarin who founded the country during the Later Le Dynasty, and Nguyen Kim is his descendant. Many scientific delegations have come to study and work at the relic site. According to the assessment, the communal house has a unique architectural structure, with a form of "half architecture, half sculpture", creating a harmonious relationship but not lacking in sacredness and majesty that covers the entire structure. In addition to the unique architecture, Gia Mieu village also preserves ancient texts.

“The project aims to systematically preserve, restore and promote the value of the relic, while ensuring the principles of preserving the original relic. At the same time, the project also contributes to meeting the needs of local socio-economic development, building the relic site into an attractive destination for spiritual tourism in Thanh Hoa in particular and Vietnam in general,” said Mr. Long.

Gia Mieu communal house is an ancient, majestic wooden architectural work with many elaborate carvings and decorations on the roof, the top of the beams, the rafters, the borders... In addition, the work cannot lack the carvings of mascots such as unicorns, turtles, phoenixes and... especially the Dragon, the mascot associated with the image of ancient emperors.
