Hue Festival 2024 with four-season orientation

Over 24 years of organization, Hue Festival has achieved outstanding achievements, gradually affirming its position, consolidating the Festival brand at national and international level, contributing to creating a driving force to stimulate tourism, preserve culture and develop the socio-economy of Thua Thien Hue province.

In an effort to turn Thua Thien - Hue into a typical national and international Festival city of Vietnam, Hue Festival 2024 continues to be a unique cultural activity, attractive for its traditional, impressive and humane nature, bringing people and tourists into both creative and enjoyable subjects.

The organizers said that at Hue Festival 2024, there will not only be typical art programs representing the imprints of many domestic and international cultures for visitors to participate in, but also royal festivals, folk festivals... that have been painstakingly recreated, preserved or new festivals that are in line with trends, meeting the enjoyment needs of the public.

Hue Festival 2024, with its four-season orientation, will continue to exploit festival chains throughout the year, gradually building a new festival program system.

Specifically, the Spring Festival - "Spring of the Ancient Capital" (taking place in January - March) highlights the Royal Tet activities, traditional Tet cultural space and extremely rich and unique folk festivals, attracting the response and participation of tourists.

Summer Festival - "Shining Imperial City" (taking place in April - June) with the highlight of Hue International Arts Festival Week 2024, contributes to introducing, promoting, and aiming to build Hue to truly become a typical Festival city of Vietnam.

The Autumn Festival - "Hue in Autumn" (taking place in July - September) focuses on the Mid-Autumn Festival Program with Hue Lantern Festival 2024, combining street Lion - Lion - Dragon performances, displays, installations, lantern processions, traditional Mid-Autumn Festival experiences, introducing the beauty of Vietnamese Mid-Autumn Festival culture.

Winter Festival - "Winter of Hue" (taking place in October - December) with the highlight being Hue Music Week 2024 and ending with the Countdown Program to say goodbye to Hue Festival 2024 - welcoming the new year 2025.

Highlights of Hue International Arts Festival Week 2024

Building on the achievements of previous Festivals, the highlight of Hue Festival 2024 is the Hue International Arts Festival Week 2024, with the theme "Cultural Heritage with Integration and Development", taking place from June 7-12.

Hue International Arts Festival Week 2024 promises to bring participants new and unique experiences about culture, history and art, a place where attractive performances by typical domestic and international artists converge, introducing royal court music and dance and unique folk melodies...

In addition, there are high-quality traditional and contemporary art programs from 8 countries from different continents taking place every night at stages in Kien Trung Palace, Thai Binh Lau, Thieu Phuong Garden (Hue Imperial City); community stages at Quoc Hoc stele, 3/2 park and throughout Thua Thien Hue province.

Specifically, the main activities and programs of the Hue International Arts Festival Week 2024 will take place continuously for 6 days and nights, with 9 major activities.

The Opening Ceremony of Hue Festival Week 2024, taking place at 8:00 p.m. on June 7, was held for the first time at Kien Trung Palace, opening a series of exciting activities of Hue International Arts Festival Week 2024.

The art program is a night of sound and light that demonstrates creativity on the core foundation of the cultural heritage values of the nation and humanity. The program will become sparkling and shining with the support of modern technology displaying Laser, Led Matrix, Hologram, 3D Mapping. The performances on stage will show Hue city "Lighting up the heritage land" with sustainable development, respecting nature, friendliness, and peace; Praising the land of "The magical ancient capital"; A place with a long tradition of "Converging the tones" of regions at home and abroad; Honoring a city of sustainable development with the aspiration of "Brightening forever".

Next, on the afternoons of June 8 and 10, the “Cultural Colors” Street Festival will exploit Hue’s cultural heritage, the cultures of regions and countries around the world, creating a colorful artistic resonance, stirring up the space stretching across many streets, bringing a joyful and bustling atmosphere, serving tourists and people.

Through music and dance performances, street variety shows, processions and folk performances, the “Cultural Colors” street festival promises to bring interesting experiences, bringing people into the festival to unite the community and strengthen friendship.

The third program contributing to Hue Festival Week 2024 is the performance of domestic and international art troupes. From 7:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. from June 8 to June 11 at community stages in Quoc Hoc Square and 3/2 Park.

Up to now, 12 troupes and art groups from 7 countries have sent art groups to participate, including: Contemporary Dance Artist Xuan Le, Cergy City Hiphop Dance Group, Merchtem Royal Stilt Troupe (Belgium), Double Impro Hiphop Dance Group (Wallonie-Bruxelles Delegation, Belgium), Hispano Flamenco Dance Group (Spain), Eisa Urakaji Drum Dance Group (Japan), Zhejiang Drama Research Institute (China), pianist Steve Barakatt (Canada), Sae Nyuk Folk Art Group, Yangpyeong Culture and Arts Association (Korea)...

Famous singers, bands, and domestic art troupes participating in the performances include: Singer Den Vau, rapper Suboi, Chillies band, Soobin Hoang Son, Bac Ninh Quan Ho Folk Song Theater, Cao Van Lau Theater - Bac Lieu Amateur Music, Vietnam Circus Federation, Kontum Provincial Art Troupe...

Along with that are many artists from Thua Thien Hue from Hue Opera House, Hue Royal Art Theater, Hue Academy of Music, clubs and young artist groups of Hue... and students from all over the province. All will show off the uniqueness, sophistication as well as the diversity of traditional and contemporary art.

The music program "Dialogue Trinh Cong Son - Love Found" hosted by the Hue Monuments Conservation Center in collaboration with musician Trinh Cong Son's family and Bamboo Artists Agency, took place at 6:00 p.m. on June 9, at Dien Kien Trung stage, Hue Imperial City, with the participation of many singers: Cam Van, Tran Manh Tuan, Quang Dung, Ha Tran, Duc Tuan, Ngoc Khue, Viet Thu, An Tran, Nguyen Vinh Ha Phuong; with narrator Tung Leo, DJ Huy Ngo, Korean violinist Jmi Ko, conductor Dustin Tieu, Orchestra Imagin Philharmonic (IPO), contemporary dance group Lyricist by Alexander Tu and a performance of Hue ao dai collection by designer Trinh Hoang Dieu...

The music night promises to become one of the cultural and artistic highlights serving visitors to Hue Festival 2024, honoring the cultural heritage values of Hue through the images and works of the talented musician, a son of Hue - Trinh Cong Son.

The fifth activity of Hue Festival Week 2024 is the Light Festival, scheduled to be held at Thai Binh Lau and Thieu Phuong Garden (Hue Imperial City). The artistic lighting space inspired by Hue heritage materials and modern Western technology will take visitors on a magical and poetic journey.

The Beer Festival, organized by Carlsberg Company, is a grand music party featuring the most popular young artists in Vietnam.

The Vegetarian Food Festival held at Nghinh Luong Dinh from June 8-9 will be an opportunity to introduce the unique and special features of Hue vegetarian cuisine. In addition, the Lantern Festival with the flower lantern release ceremony on the Huong River, co-organized by the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Thua Thien Hue province, has the meaning of praying for peace in the country, favorable weather, and happiness for the people.

The “Tam Giang Water Waves” Festival takes place from June 8-10 to help promote the potential, strengths and image of the Quang Dien river countryside to tourists inside and outside the province, especially the unique traditional cultural values and the great potential of the Tam Giang lagoon system.
