Pilgrims flock to Hung Temple to light incense sticks in gratitude for the merits of their ancestors who contributed to building and defending the nation.
Ms. Vu Thi Thu Hien, from Tuc Duyen ward ( Thai Nguyen City), said: "My family often visits Hung Temple during the festival. This is a major festival with the participation of many visitors from all over, including many people from Thai Nguyen. The Hung Temple Festival is organized on a large scale and in a systematic way; the activities are quite rich and diverse; everywhere is decorated, clean, beautiful, and security and order are ensured... I always deeply feel the spiritual significance of Hung Temple. No matter how busy I am, I still make time to attend this event."
Not only Mr. Oanh and Mrs. Hien, but tens of thousands of people from Thai Nguyen regularly make pilgrimages to the ancestral land, always feeling proud when mentioning the Hung Kings worship tradition. This year, the Hung Kings Commemoration Day - Hung Temple Festival and the Ancestral Land Culture and Tourism Week will last 10 days, from April 9th to 18th (corresponding to the 1st to 10th day of the 3rd lunar month) in Viet Tri City, the Hung Temple historical site, and districts, towns, and cities in Phu Tho province. The ceremonial part will be organized in a solemn, dignified, respectful, safe, civilized, and economical manner, including: the Commemoration Ceremony for National Ancestor Lac Long Quan and the offering of incense to Ancestral Mother Au Co on April 14th; the Hung Kings Commemoration Day and the flower offering at the relief sculpture "President Ho Chi Minh speaking with officers and soldiers of the Vanguard Army" on April 18th; and the incense offering ceremony to the Hung Kings from April 9th to 18th...
A new feature of this year's Hung Temple Festival is the close integration of festival activities with cultural, sports , and tourism events, forming a series of activities for the Cultural and Tourism Week. These include the opening ceremony of the Hung Temple Festival and the Ancestral Land Cultural and Tourism Week on April 9th (the 1st day of the 3rd lunar month) at the central festival stage (Hung Temple Historical Site); an exhibition of the World Documentary Heritage "National Name of the Capital of Van Lang and the Capitals of Vietnam in the Nguyen Dynasty Woodblock Prints" and an Art Exhibition with the theme "Homeland, Country, and People of Phu Tho" at the Hung Vuong Museum; performances of folk songs and some inscribed intangible cultural heritage forms; the "Xoan Festival - Heritage Region" program on the 6th day of the 3rd lunar month, and the establishment of a record of 5,000 participants singing Xoan...
