Oriental medicine doctors strive to research medicine to cure people's diseases.
According to the District Traditional Medicine Association in the period of 2008 - 2013, the District Association only had 13 traditional medicine associations in communes and towns, then developed 50 hamlet branches out of a total of 64 hamlets in the entire district, with 3 traditional medicine practitioners and 47 doctors treating diseases based on traditional family experience. The total number of members at that time was only 344 people.
By the period 2013 - 2018, it had developed to cover 64/64 hamlet and village associations, with 9 traditional physicians, 7 traditional medicine physicians and 196 doctors treating diseases based on family experience. Most of the doctors have completed a 6-month elementary course. There are 13 traditional medicine clinics in the commune, 13 health stations with traditional medicine clinics; hamlets have clinics, collection and preliminary processing teams. The number of members participating is increasing, with 470 people.
From 2018 to present, 63/63 hamlets have branches, with 11 traditional medicine practitioners, 24 traditional medicine physicians, and 843 members. The system of clinics at all levels of the association is increasing with 36 clinics (1 district clinic, 13 commune clinics, 22 hamlet clinics) and 13 traditional medicine clinics at commune and town health stations.
Master, Doctor Tran Quang Thao, Chairman of the Provincial Oriental Medicine Association, said that the Chau Thanh District Oriental Medicine Association is one of the advanced models, contributing a lot to the development of Oriental medicine and the Provincial Oriental Medicine Association in the new situation. In recent years, the District Oriental Medicine Association has developed an increasingly strong network of grassroots associations, developing hamlet and village branches to reach 100% of hamlets and villages in the district.
Training, professional development, skill improvement, and moral education for cadres and members are focused on, creating additional human resources to meet the needs of caring for and protecting people's health. There are 232 trainees participating in specialized training on studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality, and lifestyle; practicing the Association's Charter and "9 medical teachings of Hai Thuong Lan Ong Le Huu Trac".
The work of inheriting and applying oriental medicine, such as: Collecting many valuable remedies, promoting the collection, cultivation, exploitation, conservation, and development of medicinal herbs, participating in guiding the cultivation and conservation of some rare medicinal plants with high economic value, has been effectively implemented. With 91 members participating in writing favorite remedies, participating in scientific seminars, applied research, propagating and disseminating knowledge about oriental medicine and combining oriental medicine with modern medicine organized by the Provincial Oriental Medicine Association...
MSc. Dr. Tran Quang Thao, the Chau Thanh District Oriental Medicine Association in particular and the Oriental Medicine Associations in the province in general need to build an Oriental Medicine Association that is "politically strong, ethically beautiful, professionally competent, and organizationally strong". Associations at all levels need to do a better job of promoting the role, position, and importance of the Oriental Medicine Association, focusing on promoting association activities and developing members, especially at the grassroots level. Member organizations at all levels of the association proactively develop action plans, including strengthening the organization, developing members, and developing networks for the Oriental Medicine Associations of hamlets and villages.
At the same time, encourage members to participate in training programs to foster a team of highly qualified doctors from prestigious schools and institutes to meet the social needs of examination and treatment with traditional medicine. Organize vocational training and transfer of traditional medicine to create a generation of successors with heart, vision and talent.
Along with that, promote the collection of medicinal herbs, actively coordinate with sectors, unions, and religious organizations to promote the collection, discovery, gathering, and planning of the conservation of gene pools of medicinal plants and animals, especially rare and endangered plants and animals. Research the drug production process, gradually apply science and technology in drug processing and production, create many highly effective finished drugs, but still maintain the unique characteristics of oriental medicine.
