School Health Care - for the future of a dynamic and healthy Vietnam
In recent years, a number of programs and projects to care for and protect children's health have been introduced into schools, but they have been isolated and not uniform. According to statistics for the 2019-2020 school year, up to 69% of students nationwide have not participated in physical education and sports activities; 76.5% of students do not meet the physical fitness assessment standards by age.
Many parents are concerned about improving their children's school health, along with the strong development of social networks and online games, which have reduced students' interest in physical activities and reasonable living. In addition, limited facilities at schools, especially in remote, border, and island areas, and unreasonable school planning also affect children's health when going to school . "In other countries, students are often trained in physical fitness continuously and regularly from preschool and primary school. Meanwhile, students in Vietnam do too little daily physical exercise, eat in a hurry, and lack time due to a tight school schedule," said a parent with a child of primary school age in Hanoi .
In 2021, according to Decision 1660/QD-TTg, the Prime Minister approved the School Health Program for the period 2021 - 2025, promotingeducation , care, protection and management of student health in preschools, general education institutions and specialized schools.
School sports activities for students of all levels are being focused on and promoted.
With the message "Safe schools, healthy children and students", a comprehensive, formal and comprehensive program on school health has been implemented, expecting to bring positive changes to schools, to care for and nurture a healthy, dynamic and mature generation of Vietnamese.
