On the afternoon of October 17, at a regular press conference, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang provided updated information on citizen protection in Japan and the Middle East.
According to Japanese authorities, on the evening of October 12, four Vietnamese citizens were swept away by waves while fishing on the coast of Kamisu city, Ibaraki province, eastern Japan.

Japanese authorities found two people in stable health condition and are working to find the remaining missing people. The Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs is directing Vietnamese representative agencies in Japan to coordinate with local agencies to continue working to verify identities and support the search, rescue and relief efforts for the victims.
In addition, the situation in the Middle East has recently continued to develop complicatedly. According to information from Vietnamese representative agencies, Vietnamese citizens in this region are still safe.
Vietnamese representative agencies in the region will continuously update information and new situations for the people, issue warnings to Vietnamese people to closely monitor the situation, pay attention to travel, and proactively move to subway stations for shelter in case of emergency.

So far there are more than 700 Vietnamese citizens in Israel, 13 citizens in Lebanon, and 8 citizens in Iran.
Implementing the direction of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Vietnamese representative agencies in the Middle East continue to closely coordinate with local authorities and community leaders to update the situation, proactively visit and encourage the Vietnamese community in conflict areas, and plan to prepare protection and evacuation plans for citizens if necessary.
