DNVN - With the desire to promote the use of electric vehicles, contributing to shaping a more efficient green transportation future in Vietnam, Dat Bike has cooperated with PIDG to own a capital source worth 4 million USD.
Electric motorbike manufacturer Dat Bike has just received a US$4 million loan from InfraCo Asia - a member of the Private Infrastructure Development Group (PIDG) to increase production capacity to meet growing market demand.
This investment will help Dat Bike double its production capacity through facility expansion, tool optimization and increased automation.
The $4 million loan from InfraCo Asia is expected to accelerate the deployment of more than 30,000 electric scooters over the next two years, potentially reducing emissions by nearly 26,000 tons of CO2 per year and making a significant contribution to Vietnam’s carbon reduction efforts. The transaction is also expected to create 30 short-term and 29 permanent jobs, with a focus on gender diversity, with 24% of these positions expected to be filled by women.
“Providing growth capital to companies that are working to support climate action is part of our PIDG 2030 Strategy, which aims to drive sustainable growth in emerging markets in Asia and Africa. We believe in Dat Bike’s potential to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles and shape a greener, more efficient transportation future through its innovative, pioneering solutions,” said Karen Tsang-Hounsell, Managing Director of Investments at InfraCo Asia.
Expressing confidence in the growth prospects thanks to the loan from PIDG, Mr. Son Nguyen - CEO of Dat Bike shared: "With this special support, Dat Bike will accelerate the expansion of production scale to meet the increasing demand for electric motorbikes in Vietnam".
The electric motorbike market in Vietnam is growing rapidly, with annual market penetration reaching the highest level in Southeast Asia at 16% in 2023. This figure is expected to reach 40% by 2040.
Emitting no emissions during operation, electric motorbikes are a more environmentally friendly option than vehicles using internal combustion engines. This is an important factor promoting the process of “greening” sustainable transportation in Vietnam.
