The program is chaired by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in coordination with the People's Committee of Dien Bien district to organize a live show and introduce legends, history and unique folk dances, and Thai ethnic folk culture with the theme: "U Va Legend".
According to information from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, within the framework of the activities of this year's Ban Flower Festival, the live show "The Legend of U Va" is a new, unique and attractive highlight. This live show promises to become an artistic phenomenon in Dien Bien. For all visitors to Dien Bien during the blooming season of Ban flowers, this is a program that should not be missed. The live show will bring unique, one-of-a-kind performances, along with a very different and interesting historical and cultural perspective on the land of Dien Bien, Northwest.

Every day at 3pm, starting from February 24th, more than 50 people from villages in Noong Luong commune have gathered at the U Va village cultural house yard to practice for the live show. Although the Lunar New Year has just passed, the hot weather with dry, hot winds has made their practice difficult. The practice time is long, usually from 3pm to 9pm every day, so everyone is exhausted. However, because this is a new, unique and attractive program, everyone tries to practice actively. From getting used to the music and the awkward movements, after 3 weeks of practice, these non-professional actors have gradually become more confident with their hand movements and movements in sync with the music. The live show is a combination of space and art to recreate the Thai ethnic culture in Dien Bien, so people are very excited and enthusiastic to participate with the desire to contribute to preserving their national identity.
As one of 50 non-professional actors, Ms. Vi Thi Phuong, Uva village, Noong Luong commune, Dien Bien district, has caught up with the training. Her movements have gradually become smoother, her steps are also graceful and precise. Ms. Phuong confided: “To participate in this live show, we also have to arrange our family work. Because we find this show very meaningful to our villagers. The content of the show recreates the scene of U Va in the past, so we look forward to performing to introduce it to the people and tourists near and far…”

Sharing the same thought with Ms. Phuong, Mr. Lo Van Khu, Uva village, Noong Luong commune, Dien Bien district shared: “We are farmers, doing agricultural production work but still try to arrange to arrive on time and practice systematically according to the instructions. In general, this program has meaning for the future of our children and grandchildren, to know the history of our ancestors. From there, the younger generation will understand and preserve the beautiful traditional culture passed down from our ancestors from the past.”
According to information from the Organizing Committee, the live show Huyen Tich Uva is expected to have 56 extras from Noong Luong commune and nearly 20 professional actors. The live show will take place in the evenings from March 13 to 16 within the framework of the Opening of the National Tourism Year - Dien Bien and the Ban Flower Festival 2024. The live show will last nearly 40 minutes, with the main content consisting of 3 chapters: Chapter I talks about the legend of the Thai people (the legend of the gourd) - Ancient marks of the Thai people; Chapter II talks about the legend of the Pieu Scarf - the Ban flower tree; Chapter III talks about the Xen Pang Festival - The humane, long-standing beauty, the pride of the Thai people and the connection between the present and the past. Being held for the first time, the production team and actors are trying to practice and quickly complete the stage to bring to the people and tourists a unique and attractive performance.

Mr. Le Anh Dung, Production Director, General Director of the live show “The Legend of U Va”, said: “There were some problems in the practice. Because people were busy with production during the day, we organized the practice in the afternoon. On this occasion, the weather in Dien Bien was also hot, so we could only practice from 3pm to evening. Although it was so hard, what we recognized was the effort of the leaders, the government and the production unit Anh Son Group Joint Stock Company, especially the efforts of the people here. When they realized that this tourism product would bring great effects, they were very enthusiastic in practicing…”
Up to this point, the rehearsal for the live show “The Legend of U Va” has been basically completed, ready to serve tourists starting from March 13. We are confident that, with the close direction of the province, the meticulous investment from the production unit and the efforts of professional actors and extras, the live show will be a new and attractive highlight for people and tourists coming to Dien Bien during the Hoa Ban Festival and National Tourism Year – Dien Bien 2024.
