Slag tank explosion at yellow phosphorus furnace burns 2 workers

Area where the work accident occurred.

According to initial information, the incident occurred at 10 p.m. on April 21. While workers were organizing the closure of the slag discharge gate of the No. 2 electric furnace, the Yellow Phosphorus Production Complex 3 (Lao Cai Southeast Asia Joint Stock Company), an explosion occurred in the slag quenching tank, causing hot water from the tank to splash on two workers, Luong Xuan B. (born in 1992) and Luong Van S. (born in 1989), who were burned.

After the incident, the technical and medical departments arrived to provide first aid and took the victims to Lao Cai Provincial General Hospital for emergency treatment.

Yellow phosphorus production complex 3 (Lao Cai Southeast Asia Joint Stock Company) is located in Tang Loong Industrial Park, Bao Thang district.

Currently, authorities are blocking off the scene to investigate the cause of the accident.
