Nintendo Switch achieved record sales in June.

According to Gaming Bolt , 2023 marks the seventh year that the Nintendo Switch has dominated the video game market. At this point, many believe the device is becoming "outdated" and sales are declining. However, the opposite seems to be true, as the Switch remains very popular in its home market.

Switch is showing signs of better business performance in the Japanese market.

According to a Nikkei report based on Famitsu's latest weekly sales rankings in Japan, the Nintendo Switch sold over 380,000 units in the country during June. This represents not only a 68% increase compared to June 2022 sales, but also the highest number of units ever sold in June in the Japanese market.

Switch lifetime sales in Japan currently stand at just under 29.8 million, and impressive June sales suggest the console is poised to reach 30 million units in the coming weeks.

To date, the Switch remains the third-best-selling gaming platform in Japan, behind the Nintendo DS in first place with over 32.9 million units sold, and the Game Boy and Game Boy Color in second place with over 32.4 million lifetime sales.

As of March 31st of this year, the Switch had sold over 125 million units worldwide . At that time, Nintendo stated that they expected sales to gradually decline over the next year, while reports indicated that development of the Switch's successor was progressing well.
