Ninh Binh builds Trang An as the center of "Millennium Heritage City"

The Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex currently has 429 relics, including 2 special national relics, 21 national relics and 36 provincial relics, distributed throughout 18 communes and wards. This was the first capital of the Dai Co Viet state, containing many famous historical and religious relics, unique natural and cultural values.

This place is also the cradle of wet rice culture, the beginning of exploiting the source of nutrition from hunting and gathering from the forest and the sea, people began to know how to cultivate agriculture . Over time, the layers of residence of ancient Trang An residents together built up traditional values ​​in the production process, creating unique characteristics of wet rice civilization.

After 10 years of Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex being recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural and Natural Heritage, Trang An has affirmed itself as one of the famous tourist destinations in Vietnam and around the world; a place that harmoniously combines natural beauty and historical and cultural values, expressing stories of ancient history and is an intact chronicle recording environmental changes and human responses in the distant past, preserving a tradition of human habitation, a tradition of using land and sea of ​​prehistoric people with many continuous cultures, lasting up to 30,000 years.

It is known that Ninh Binh province is implementing a project to 2030, basically achieving the criteria of a centrally-governed city with the characteristics of a Millennium Heritage City and a creative city. Accordingly, the ancient capital of Hoa Lu contains a millennium ecosystem, including natural heritage, settlement heritage, archaeological relics, history, valuable cultural identity, religion, and beliefs.

Mr. Pham Quang Ngoc, Chairman of Ninh Binh Provincial People's Committee, said that Trang An is carrying a new mission, becoming the center of the Millennium Heritage City, thereby promoting tourism development in the province.

In recent years, Trang An has become a prominent location in Southeast Asia and the world, recognized by UNESCO. That is the basis for Ninh Binh province to invest and welcome more and more tourists. Although affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, the province continues to be evaluated by many prestigious travel sites such as TripAdvisor, Telegraph, Business Insider... as a safe and attractive destination.

In 2022, Ninh Binh tourism will recover strongly, welcoming 3.7 million visitors, 3.6 times higher than the same period last year; revenue will increase 5 times compared to the same period in 2021. By 2023, the whole province will welcome 6.6 million visitors, of which Trang An scenic complex will welcome about 4.6 million visitors, with revenue of nearly 6,500 billion VND.

In the first 3 months of 2024, the whole province welcomed 3.9 million visitors, including nearly 340,000 international visitors, reaching 52% of the target set for the whole year 2024. Trang An scenic spot accounted for the majority of visitors.

The vestiges and relics in Hoa Lu have played and are playing an important role in preserving and transmitting cultural values ​​from ancient times.

For many consecutive years, Ninh Binh has also maintained its position in the top 15 destinations, 10 provinces attracting the highest number of visitors in the country.

In order to always retain domestic and foreign tourists, Ninh Binh province always focuses on raising the awareness of cadres, party members and people in protecting the natural landscape and living environment in Trang An area. That has created a unique difference of Trang An.

Up to now, this place is recognized as one of the few heritages that are affected by humans, even humans and nature are in harmony, bringing benefits to each other. The economic restructuring from agriculture to tourism services towards green and sustainable growth has promoted the vitality, potential and value of heritage, so that heritage truly belongs to the community, protected and preserved by the community.

Thanks to that, the number of direct workers in the Trang An scenic complex is about 10,000 people, indirect workers are more than 20,000 people, the income of the local community is significantly increased every year. The tourist areas and spots in the heritage site really play a core role, promoting the development of Ninh Binh tourism.

Developing heritage tourism products at Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex is not only to serve the needs of tourists for sightseeing and experience and to develop the tourism economy, but more importantly, to demonstrate responsibility in preserving, conserving and promoting cultural and historical values, and interpreting heritage values ​​scientifically to ensure that these precious values ​​will be passed down to present and future generations.
