Hoa Lu Festival is an event of special significance to Ninh Binh province. With the status of a National Intangible Cultural Heritage, Hoa Lu Festival has unique and distinctive traditional cultural values, attracting the participation of a large number of people in the province and tourists from all over the world.
The festival with many solemn rituals and unique cultural activities is being actively prepared by units and localities in the province, ensuring it takes place solemnly, impressively, and imbued with cultural identity.
Ready for Hoa Lu Festival
As the locality where most of the activities of Hoa Lu Festival take place, along with preparing for the ceremonial and festival activities, Truong Yen commune, Hoa Lu city actively carries out environmental sanitation, disease prevention, ensuring food safety and security and order.
Mr. Hoang Van Hoan, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Truong Yen commune, said that it has become a tradition that every year on the occasion of the Hoa Lu Festival, Truong Yen commune actively prepares activities to serve both the festival and the ceremony.
Traditional rituals taking place at the festival such as: Water procession ceremony, bathing ceremony, offering ceremony, nine-curve ceremony... are carefully preserved by generations of local people because these are rituals that demonstrate the tradition and morality of "remembering the source of water when drinking water", the deep gratitude of the people for the great contributions of the ancestors.
Along with that, the commune's functional forces simultaneously organized an environmental sanitation campaign, attracting a large number of cadres, union members, union members and people to participate, ensuring that all main roads, village roads and alleys in the area were cleaned, tidy and neat before, during and after the festival.
At the Hoa Lu Festival, Ninh Binh Provincial Museum will display the theme "Hoa Lu Capital - Through History", introducing to the public more than 200 documents and artifacts, including many original artifacts.
To best display and preserve artifacts, in addition to using cabinets, shelves, and surveillance camera systems, Ninh Binh Provincial Museum assigns staff to work 24/7 to ensure the safety and security of artifacts and serve visitors to the exhibition area.
Ms. Vu Thi Thu, Deputy Director of Ninh Binh Provincial Museum, shared that every year during the Hoa Lu Festival, the Museum holds a special exhibition "Hoa Lu Capital - Following the course of history."
The museum has selected typical documents and artifacts of the Dai Co Viet State, the Hoa Lu Capital, and the great contributions of historical figures of the Dinh-Tien Le dynasties to highlight the special value of Hoa Lu and the Dai Co Viet State.
Through the reflection of documents and artifacts, it is affirmed that Hoa Lu Capital was built on a very unique terrain, where the combination of natural achievements and human efforts and intelligence has built a solid military citadel, both defensive and offensive; highlighting the value of the aspiration for national independence and autonomy. This is an opportunity to promote Vietnam's history to international friends.
Along with the preparation activities for the festival program, logistics, security, health care, etc. serving the festival are also coordinated by sectors and localities in Ninh Binh province to carry out on schedule.
The provincial Department of Health has developed a plan to proactively respond to epidemic situations, and at the same time developed a plan to inspect and monitor food safety at food service establishments and accommodation establishments in Hoa Lu city and the festival area.
Ninh Binh Provincial Police mobilized more than 400 officers and soldiers to participate in the festival. For activities of each event, the Provincial Police assigned tasks to the police of communes and wards.
To ensure security and order activities take place as planned, the provincial police have established a working group to inspect and review the performance of tasks by the forces.
Organizing Hoa Lu Festival worthy of its status as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage
The Hoa Lu Festival 2025 will take place from April 6 to 8, 2025 (ie March 9-11 of the lunar calendar) at the Hoa Lu Ancient Capital Special National Relic Site, Truong Yen Commune, Hoa Lu City. The opening ceremony will take place at Dinh Tien Hoang De Square at 8:00 p.m. on April 6, 2025 (ie March 9 of the lunar calendar).
In addition to the activities organized according to tradition, this year, Hoa Lu festival is organized with many new events and activities such as Scientific seminar on the life and career of Mrs. Pham Thi Tran - the founder of Vietnamese theater; Scientific seminar and exhibition "Costume and ancient costumes of Dinh Dynasty"; activities to promote Ninh Binh tourism through the Festival of propaganda teams; organizing exhibition space, introducing history, culture, handicraft products, OCOP products, typical goods and services of districts and cities.
Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ninh Binh province, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee of the Hoa Lu Festival in 2025, said that the festival has special significance: Commemorating the 1,057th anniversary of Dinh Bo Linh's ascension to the throne ( 968-2025 ), establishing the Dai Co Viet State - the first centralized feudal state in Vietnamese history, commemorating the 1,020th anniversary of the death of Emperor Le Dai Hanh (1,005-2025).
The festival also aims to commemorate and pay tribute to the great contributions of King Dinh Tien Hoang, honor the position and role of Dai Co Viet State in the historical process of the nation, and educate the tradition of patriotism and arouse national pride.
In recent days, the Department of Culture and Sports has coordinated with localities to promote visual propaganda, design layouts, and construct propaganda panels and banners at the Hoa Lu Ancient Capital National Special Relic Site and on main roads; decorate Hoa Lu gate, build festival program announcement panels in the area in front of Truong Yen Commune Post Office, Cau Huyen intersection, and bus station.
Every occasion of Hoa Lu Festival is an opportunity to promote and spread the image and people of the ancient capital Hoa Lu, attracting domestic and international tourists. At the same time, with the successful organization of Hoa Lu Festival and many other events, Ninh Binh province aims to soon become a center for organizing national and international events, creating economic added value while still preserving traditional cultural values./.
