Ninh Binh is ready for Investigation and information collection on the socio-economic situation of 53 ethnic minorities

From July 1 to August 15, 2024, the Survey and information collection on the socio-economic situation of 53 ethnic minorities nationwide will be conducted. Together with other provinces and cities, Ninh Binh has made careful preparations for the survey to take place as planned.

Officials of the Provincial Statistics Office check data to compile a household census and collect information on the socio-economic situation of 53 ethnic minorities in 2024 in the province.

Pursuant to Decision No. 628/QD-TCTK dated July 14, 2023 of the General Director of the General Statistics Office on promulgating the Plan for Investigation and Collection of Information on the Socio-Economic Status of 53 Ethnic Minorities (EMs) in 2024, the Provincial Statistics Office issued Plan No. 377/KH-CTK dated May 22, 2024 to organize and implement the Plan for Investigation and Collection of Information on the Socio-Economic Status of 53 EMs in 2024 in the province.

Mr. Le Thanh Tung, Deputy Director of the Provincial Statistics Office, said: This is the third time the Survey and information collection on the socio-economic situation of 53 ethnic minorities has been organized in our country. The survey is large-scale, combining a complete survey and a sample survey. The purpose of the survey is to reflect the socio-economic situation of 53 ethnic minorities to compile statistical indicators belonging to the national statistical indicator system and the statistical indicator system on ethnic affairs to serve the construction and planning of socio-economic development policies for ethnic minority regions in the period of 2026-2030; as a basis for updating the information system and statistical data on ethnic minorities in Vietnam in general and in the province in particular.

Scope of the investigation and collection of information on the socio-economic status of 53 ethnic minorities in 2024 in the province is carried out in 7 communes of Nho Quan district in the ethnic minority and mountainous areas according to Decision No. 861/QD-TTg dated June 4, 2021 of the Prime Minister approving the list of communes in Region III, Region II, Region I in the ethnic minority and mountainous areas in the period 2021 - 2025 and Yen Son commune, Tam Diep city is not in the above areas but has ethnic minority areas selected for investigation to collect population indicators by ethnic minority.

The subjects of the survey are ethnic minority households; the actual permanent population of ethnic minority households at the time of the survey (including those in the armed forces currently eating and sleeping at the household), excluding those living in areas under the exclusive management of the army and police; the economic situation, social security, culture, health, education of communes in regions III, II, I in ethnic minority and mountainous areas according to Decision No. 861/QD-TTg dated June 4, 2021 of the Prime Minister.

In Ninh Binh province, there are 34 survey areas selected by the General Statistics Office in 8 communes in 2 districts and cities, of which: Tam Diep city selected samples to survey all ethnic minority households in 1 survey area of ​​Yen Son commune; Nho Quan district has 32 survey areas (960 ethnic minority households) selected samples of 30 ethnic minority households/survey area and 1 survey area selected samples of 40 ethnic minority households/survey area.

To carry out the survey accurately and on schedule, the Provincial Statistics Office has developed a plan to organize and implement the survey plan. At the same time, the Office has issued documents directing and guiding agencies and units to implement the updating of base maps, updating areas, and making household lists; selecting and organizing professional training for supervisors, investigators, and team leaders. The Statistics Department has selected 8 team leaders and 20 investigators who are experienced in statistical surveys, have a sense of responsibility, and understand the culture of ethnic minorities and the area.

Ms. Quach Thi Thu, investigator of Thach Binh commune (Nho Quan) said, in order to perform well the assigned tasks, I have participated in training courses on investigation techniques organized by the General Statistics Office. Through the training, I have grasped the purpose and requirements of the investigation, and at the same time, I have been fully equipped with professional investigation knowledge as well as proficiently used CAPI software to perform the assigned tasks, ensuring compliance with the requirements of the prescribed investigation plan.

In order for people to understand the significance of the survey and actively participate in providing information, the Department has carried out propaganda work in many forms, suitable for each region and residential area such as: Broadcasting MP3 questions and answers about the survey on the commune loudspeaker system in ethnic languages, suitable for the characteristics of the ethnic minority situation in each survey area; hanging propaganda slogans and posters on the LED board of the Department of Statistics...

Up to this point, in Ninh Binh, preparations for conducting surveys and collecting information on the socio-economic status of 53 ethnic minorities in 2024 have been basically completed, ensuring readiness for information collection in the area to achieve progress and quality.
