In a recent exclusive interview, Miss Sergipe - Saiury Carvalho spoke for the first time about the time she was physically and mentally abused by her ex-boyfriend.

“I thought I was living in a fairy tale, but after just over two months, everything became terrifying,” Saiury shared. After being crowned Miss Sergipe 2017, her ex-boyfriend began to control her, calling her constantly and following her around at all times, turning her life upside down. “He accompanied me everywhere, to the point that people called him my ‘bodyguard’,” the beauty queen said.

Once, when she saw Saiury taking pictures with male fans, her ex-boyfriend became angry, cursed and threw things at her. Over the next year, he repeatedly insulted her, confined her, controlled her phone and forbade her social relationships.

After being slapped and locked in a room, she sought help from her mother and began therapy. “I was no longer myself, had no dreams or goals. I just existed in fear and darkness,” she choked.

Leaving a relationship that lasted nearly 2 years, Saiury moved to another city to start over. Here, she gradually built her career and gradually affirmed her name in the fashion industry.

However, Saiury fell into another toxic relationship at the age of 28. Recognizing the signs of control again, she broke up. “I will not let anyone make me lose my self-worth again,” she affirmed.

Besides her modeling career, Saiury is also a famous speaker in anti-domestic violence campaigns, inspiring women who have suffered like her.

Saiury is currently a model and influential entrepreneur in Brazil.

Born in 1993, Saiury graduated with a degree in nutrition and is currently studying for a master's degree. She was crowned Miss Sergipe 2017 and entered the top 5 of Miss Universe Brazil that same year. In 2025, the beauty queen returned to the competition but regretfully did not win despite her outstanding beauty and education.
