The fateful night of eight girls who forgot to close their windows.

VnExpress, citing QQ, 163, and Zhihu, reported that the murder of eight girls in an apartment building was the most horrific crime in Beijing, China, in 1999 and was solved in just one week.

Around 4:00 AM on May 30, 1999, Beijing city police received a report of a murder on the second floor of an apartment building in Shijingshan District. The scene was unimaginable even to seasoned police officers: seven girls were found murdered in their apartment, one lying next to a car parked in front of the building. The oldest was 24 years old, the youngest 17, all suffering over a hundred stab wounds.

The eight victims were employees of a handicraft company based in Fujian, renting a house in Shijingshan District, northwest Beijing, which served as both an office and a dormitory. They worked at a jewelry counter in a shopping mall. One of them had only arrived in Beijing one day before the incident.

Due to the large number of victims, the wide crime scene, and the scattered bloodstains, the police had to thoroughly investigate the scene more than 10 times. Finally, they discovered the blood of another person besides the eight victims. Combined with the detail that all eight girls were murdered with the same knife, the police concluded that the perpetrator acted alone and had been injured during the crime.

The perpetrator was later identified as Trieu Lien Vinh, who lived right next to the crime scene.

Vinh always felt lonely, misunderstood, and unable to hold his head high because of his poverty. His dissatisfaction with life and his yearning for wealth accumulated, leading to negative thoughts in his mind.

In late summer 1998, Vinh noticed eight young women renting a three-bedroom apartment next to his. Whenever he passed by, Vinh would politely nod in greeting to his neighbors. Although he had never spoken to them directly, Vinh secretly gathered information about them. He learned that they ran a jewelry and gemstone business in a large shopping mall and dressed up and wore makeup every day.

Vinh's southeast-facing bedroom window directly opposite the girls' dormitory balcony, just a step away, allowed him to clearly see what they were doing by peeking out. Having secretly observed their activities daily, Vinh noticed that his neighbor's balcony window was always open, even at night, to let in the breeze during hot weather.

Driven by a desire to rob, Vinh murdered eight innocent girls. The attack lasted approximately 20 minutes. After finding some cash, Vinh fled home, immediately washed the bloodstains off his clothes, and disposed of his gloves.

Vinh was arrested on June 15, 1999, convicted of intentional murder, and sentenced to death, with execution scheduled for July 21, 1999.

The killer murders people alphabetically.

According to Kiến thức newspaper, citing TRT, the serial killer who murdered people alphabetically sowed fear and terror, shocking the area around Rochester, New York, USA. In the early 1970s, a series of horrific murders occurred with striking similarities, becoming one of the most gruesome murder cases in history.

All three victims were young women: Carmen Colon, Michelle Maenza, and Wanda Walkowicz. The victims all had the first two letters of their names repeated.

The victims were all murdered in towns whose first letters matched the first letters of their last names, such as Carmen Colon, who was killed in Churchville; Wanda Walkowicz, who was murdered in Webster; and Michelle Maenza, who was killed in Macedon.

Suspects included Carmen's uncle, Kenneth Bianchi, and local photographer Joseph Naso. However, authorities were unable to find any incriminating evidence against any of them. To this day, the gruesome murder remains a mystery, and the perpetrator has yet to be apprehended.

Killing dozens of women with silk stockings.

In July 1962, the Boston Herald reported that an unknown assailant had murdered four women in Boston, causing public alarm. This series of murders didn't stop there; between 1962 and 1964, 13 more women, aged 19 to 85, all living in Boston, were brutally murdered. The number of victims continued to rise, but the police made little progress in their investigation to apprehend the perpetrator. According to police, the killer used silk stockings to strangle the victims until they died. Most of the victims were raped before their deaths.

In October 1964, American police arrested Albert DeSalvo for raping a woman at his home. During questioning, DeSalvo confessed to murdering 17 women in Boston. However, his testimony contained many inconsistencies, and DNA tests from the murders did not identify the same person. The identity of the perpetrator who murdered these 17 women in Boston remains a great mystery to this day.
