Eating fish with certain foods listed below can reduce its nutritional value, or even cause poisoning, seriously affecting health.
Animal liver should not be eaten with fish.
Animal liver (such as pork or beef liver) is high in copper, while fish is rich in vitamin C. This combination can oxidize vitamin C, reducing the nutritional value of both foods. Furthermore, eating fish with animal liver can cause digestive problems, allergies, or even poisoning. It is absolutely not recommended to eat fish and animal liver together. If you want to eat both, you should eat them at least 4 hours apart.
Do not eat fish with cow's milk.
Cow's milk is rich in calcium, while fish is rich in magnesium. When combined, these two substances can form compounds that are difficult to absorb, hindering the body's absorption of calcium and magnesium. Furthermore, consuming raw fish with cow's milk can cause poisoning. It's not advisable to drink cow's milk immediately after eating fish, especially raw fish salad. Wait at least 1-2 hours after eating fish before drinking milk.

The fruit has an astringent taste.
Astringent fruits (such as persimmons, guavas, and green apples) contain a lot of tannins. When tannins combine with the protein in fish, they can form indigestible compounds, causing bloating, indigestion, and constipation. It's not advisable to eat astringent fruits immediately after eating fish. There should be at least a two-hour gap between the two.
Some types of beans
Some types of beans (such as soybeans and red beans) contain high levels of trypsin inhibitors, an important enzyme in protein digestion. When eaten with fish, these beans can hinder protein digestion, causing bloating and indigestion. Limit eating fish with beans, especially soybeans and red beans.
Coffee
Coffee contains caffeine and acids that can irritate the stomach and cause indigestion and heartburn, especially when combined with protein-rich foods like fish. The caffeine in coffee can increase heart rate and blood pressure, while some substances in fish can affect the nervous system. This combination can cause symptoms such as nervousness, anxiety, and insomnia.
Starchy foods
Avoid pairing fish with starchy foods like potatoes and pasta. This combination not only leads to excessively high calorie and carbohydrate intake but also lowers the glycemic index of the meal, making you feel hungry faster and increasing cravings.
Processed and fried foods
Combining fish with processed or heavily fried foods, especially deep-fried items like french fries and fried chicken, can significantly reduce the health benefits of fish. The high levels of saturated and trans fats in these foods not only neutralize the benefits of omega-3s in fish but also increase the risk of cardiovascular disease, obesity, and other health problems.
