Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School Campus
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, on July 4, more than 4,300 students will take the entrance exam for grade 6 at Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School. It is known that the school's enrollment target for grade 6 in the 2024-2025 school year is 350 students. Thus, the competition rate for admission to the school is about 1/12.
The competition rate for grade 6 at Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School this year is the highest in over 20 years, since the establishment of Tran Dai Nghia Specialized High School (school year 2002-2003).
Accordingly, more than 4,300 students will take the capacity assessment survey for admission at 6 testing locations:
- Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School, No. 20 Ly Tu Trong, Ben Nghe Ward, District 1;
- Tran Van On Secondary School, 161B Nguyen Van Thu, Da Kao Ward, District 1;
- Nguyen Du Secondary School, No. 139 Nguyen Du, Ben Thanh Ward, District 1;
- Ban Co Secondary School, No. 16, Street No. 3, Ward 4, District 3;
- Ernst Thälmann High School, No. 8 Tran Hung Dao, Pham Ngu Lao Ward, District 1;
- Trung Vuong High School, No. 3 Nguyen Binh Khiem, Ben Nghe Ward, District 1.
This year is the first year that Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School organizes 6th grade enrollment after the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee issued a decision to establish Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School, from the implementation of the project to reorganize Tran Dai Nghia Specialized High School, according to the provisions of the 2019 Education Law and Circular 05/2023 of the Ministry of Education and Training promulgating the regulations on organization and operation of specialized high schools.
The leader of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training said that the entrance exam for grade 6 at Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School will have a similar structure to the previous entrance exam for Tran Dai Nghia Specialized High School. The exam consists of 2 parts: multiple choice and essay, with a time limit of 90 minutes to assess the ability to use English and Vietnamese; mathematics and logical thinking; natural sciences; social sciences: history and geography; and common sense.
Multiple choice section : Includes 20 questions in English. Time limit: 30 minutes. This section includes questions about natural sciences, social sciences, and common sense.
Essay section : Candidates take the test in 60 minutes, testing English proficiency: listening comprehension, reading comprehension, writing. Candidates take the test in English.
Also in the essay section, candidates will take the test in Vietnamese in the section testing mathematical ability and logical thinking, reading comprehension and writing ability.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training is responsible for compiling the content of the survey, organizing the supervision and grading of the 6th grade survey at Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School. Based on the survey results, the Department will consider from high to low until the quota is met. Students who do not pass the 6th grade exam at Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School will still be considered for 6th grade according to the regulations of the enrollment steering committee of districts in Ho Chi Minh City.
