Established in 2012, the Duy Xuyen District Association for the Disabled, after many mergers and separations, will operate independently in May 2024 under the name of the Duy Xuyen District Association for the Protection of the Disabled.
Recently, with support from the Humanitarian Relief Society (CRS), a class on making handmade paper flowers has been opened for unemployed disabled people. This creates opportunities for them to earn more income and become more independent in life.
From simple materials such as paper, velvet, etc., those hands have created a colorful flower basket, conveying the dream of a bright future. Each flower is a work of art and a testament to extraordinary will to live.
For them, completing a flower is not easy because some people cannot sit for long, some have difficulty pruning by hand. However, no one gives up. Each product created thus carries within it a story of perseverance, determination and the spirit of overcoming fate.

The association currently has 10 members, of various ages. There are children who cycle more than 30 minutes to the association every day - hoping to earn extra income to support their families. There are women who travel long distances to the workshop because they want to give their children better conditions.
With the desire to spread the beauty of handmade flowers and create a stable source of income for members, the association has established a Facebook page called “Duy Xuyen Handmade”. The page is a place to share the latest flower designs made by skillful hands, and is also a bridge to interact, listen and serve customers in the most dedicated way.
The limitation of the page is that it still faces difficulties when the interaction rate is still low and the recognition is not as expected. That makes the association worried, because behind each flower is the story of diligent people, hoping for a brighter future.

The Association hopes to receive support to spread more values of “Duy Xuyen Handmade”, help the site develop and bring a better life to members. Every companionship and sharing is a valuable source of encouragement on this journey.
“The whole leaves cover the torn leaves” - the spirit of sharing is always present in every human being. A little care, a share or a small order can also motivate people with disabilities on the journey to make their dreams come true.
Let's spread love together, so that the paper flowers bloom not only in flower baskets, but also in all of our hearts.
