(VTC News) - At dawn, people in Cat Minh commune (Phu Cat district, Binh Dinh) are busy starting a day of work in the salt fields to maintain the "father-to-son" profession.
Dawn on Binh Dinh salt fields
At 5am, the first rays of sunlight begin to creep across the salt fields in Cat Minh commune, Phu Cat district (Binh Dinh). From above, each salt field looks like a mirror.
Early morning is the most suitable time for people to start a day of salt making in the hot sun.
The first job in the morning is to pour the filtered sea water from the day before onto the drying cells in time for the sun to rise.
"Work in the sun, rest in the cool weather", each year salt makers only have 6 months to produce.

Salt must be made during the day and not left overnight. Therefore, salt workers in Cat Minh commune (Phu Cat district) always have to go to the fields early in the morning and return when it gets dark.
The sunnier the weather, the faster the salt takes shape. For salt workers, the scorching sun is a blessing in disguise for a bountiful harvest, for the salt grains to be whiter and purer.

Currently, most salt workers in Cat Minh commune are elderly and women. Due to low and unstable income, many young people have had to give up their "family tradition" to find other ways to make a living.

The stronger the sun, the harder the people work on the salt fields. The long shadows cast on the fields, the people “carrying the sun” here are day by day distilling the quintessence of the sea.

“My family has been making salt for two generations, and both joy and sorrow come from salt grains. Ten years ago, although making salt was not a rich job, it was a stable life, earning an average of 120,000 VND per day. In recent years, the income has not been enough to live on, but I love making salt and cannot give it up,” said Mr. Nguyen Xuan Vinh, a salt worker in Cat Minh commune.
In Cat Minh commune, Phu Cat district, there are nearly 600 households making salt.
Salt workers continue to work tirelessly until sunset. As the sun gradually sets behind the trees, the image of people in the salt fields is still busy with the last work of the day.
From above, the village road is the boundary between the salt fields and the rice fields in Cat Minh commune. The beauty of the salt fields is not the charming feng shui, nor is it flashy, but the beauty of the sweat of hard work.
