Computer science and information technology "usurp" the top position
In recent years, the benchmark scores based on the high school graduation exam scores in various majors have fluctuated strongly. Contrary to what many people think, the medical and military majors are not among the top with the highest benchmark scores.
According to Dan Tri reporter's synthesis, in 2023, nearly 30 majors will have a benchmark score of 28 (on a scale of 30) or higher, or an average of more than 9.3 points/subject to pass. Of these, computer science, history pedagogy, journalism, and languages are prominent.
Leading the benchmark score in 2023 is the computer science major of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, with 29.42.
This score has taken the top spot in the benchmark scores for Korean studies and public relations in the past two years.
The second highest score in the country also belongs to Hanoi University of Science and Technology, which is data science and artificial intelligence with 28.8 points.

In addition to the above majors, Hanoi University of Science and Technology has 3 other majors with a benchmark score of over 28, including: Computer Engineering (ranked 15th), Global ICT (ranked 18th), Cyber security, advanced programs (ranked 21st).
In the top 30, the University of Science, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City contributed one major: computer science (ranked 22nd).
Press, media, public relations keep "hot"
Over the past few years, the journalism, media and public relations industry has always maintained its "hot" status as it is always in the top.
In particular, the benchmark score in 2023 for the public relations major, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, is 28.78 points in block C00 (combined literature, history, geography).
Next is the multimedia communications major of the Academy of Journalism and Communication with 28.68 points, combination A16 (math, literature and natural sciences) and C15 (math, literature and social sciences).
Some majors require 28-28.5 points, such as: Journalism and Oriental Studies of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi; International Communications and International Relations of the Diplomatic Academy; Journalism of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City.
This score decreased slightly compared to 2022. However, many experts predict that it will increase again in 2024 when the C00 block score range increases rapidly, the number of high scores increases vertically, more than... 530%.

Oriental studies, Korean studies, Chinese language dominate
In 2022, along with public relations, the two other "promising" names are Oriental Studies and Korean Studies of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, leading with a benchmark score of 29.95 (average 9.99 points/subject).
These industries in 2023 are still in the group with the highest input in the C00 group but have decreased compared to last year, partly due to a slight decrease in this group's score.
Also in the top 30 are: Chinese language department of Foreign Trade University, Chinese studies and Korean studies department of Diplomatic Academy.
Like the journalism, media and public relations industry groups, the 2024 benchmark score of this industry group may increase higher than in block C00.
"New stars" are pedagogy, political education, and psychology.
Last year, History Education attracted attention when 4 schools set the benchmark score for this major from 28 and above. Of which, Hanoi Pedagogical University 2 set the highest score with 28.58 points, ranking 5th in the rankings. Notably, the History Education major of Vinh University increased from 25.75 to 28.12.

History education is considered the "new star" of the 2023 university admissions season. This "pushes" the math education industry, which has been "hot" for the past 5 years, out of the top 30.
Some other majors in the top are: political education of Hanoi Pedagogical University with 28.13 points, psychology of University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi with 28 points.
According to many experts' forecasts, the benchmark score in 2024 will fluctuate in an upward direction. The reason is that the high school graduation exam score range has increased in many admission groups, especially group C00. On the other hand, universities have now proactively implemented many admission plans, causing the admission quota based on high school graduation exam scores to decrease.
Along with that, at the end of the registration period, more than 733,000 candidates registered for admission through the Ministry of Education and Training portal, the highest in the past 3 years.
August 17th announcement of benchmark scores
According to the plan of the Ministry of Education and Training, the virtual screening process for university admission in 2024 will take place from August 13 to 5:00 p.m. on August 17. Thus, by August 17, schools will be able to announce the admission results to candidates.
By 5:00 p.m. on August 19 at the latest, universities and colleges must complete the announcement of benchmark scores and first round of admission results.
