Library bookshelves, essential learning tools and equipment… are meaningful and practical gifts that organizations and businesses have given to students in the mountainous commune of Cuc Phuong (Nho Quan), helping them to study in more adequate conditions.
The library of Cuc Phuong Secondary School is not large in area but is arranged, presented scientifically, reasonably and attractively. The volume of books, newspapers and magazines is quite diverse, suitable for the reading needs of students in the school.
According to the teachers and students of the school, this small library is very meaningful. This is not only a place to store books and newspapers but also a sentiment, a valuable source of knowledge that the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Vietnam News Agency has given to the school since 2018.
The bookcase in this small library is named after Dinh Huu Du - a talented and passionate journalist from Ninh Binh. Journalist Dinh Huu Du passed away while working at the flood scene in 2018. When he was alive, young journalist Dinh Huu Du had a strong desire to bring books to children in the highlands.
The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Vietnam News Agency - the agency where journalist Dinh Huu Du worked during his lifetime - chose Cuc Phuong Secondary School to fulfill the young journalist's unfinished wish. At that time, the school's library received about 5,000 books. The books were also very diverse, including: textbooks, reference books, comics... The source of donated books and newspapers enriched and diversified the school's bookshelf.
Teacher Nguyen Duc Dung, Principal of Cuc Phuong Secondary School, was moved: In Cuc Phuong, children have not had much access to a rich source of books and newspapers that are suitable for their needs. Therefore, the Dinh Huu Du bookshelf donated by the Vietnam News Agency is truly a precious and meaningful gift for teachers and students of the school over the years. This source of books and newspapers has helped students have more conditions to study. The books donated from the passion of bringing reading culture to students in the highlands of the late journalist Dinh Huu Du are also touching stories for students to appreciate more, to exploit and promote the effectiveness of this special bookshelf.
Currently, although the school is still facing many difficulties, not having enough funds to regularly supplement books, equip adequate facilities... the number of students looking for books is increasing day by day. To bring books closer to students, the school has put books in the bookcases of classrooms, so that students can conveniently find and read them during breaks, every time they come to class.
There, students can search for books according to their needs or borrow them to take home. In the Zalo library group, the librarian collects soft copies of books so that students can read online; they can borrow them to take home. In addition, the school regularly organizes awards for students who love to read books, remember and read many books during flag-raising ceremonies.
Cuc Phuong Kindergarten currently has 8 classes with a total of 195 children, of which 184 are Muong ethnic children. The survey shows that the school's equipment for nurturing, caring for and educating children is still lacking according to the list of minimum teaching aids, toys and equipment for preschool education.
Recently, through the connection of the Provincial Red Cross Society, the volunteer group of Samsung Electronics Vietnam Co., Ltd. visited and donated equipment for the work of nurturing, caring for and educating children to the school. Specifically, the delegation donated 350m2 of artificial grass, 4 water heaters, 10 sets of tables and chairs, 100 sets of school supplies, 6 air conditioners, 200 gift sets including cakes and milk, and wall paint covering 54m2... with a total value of over 180 million VND.
Mr. Choi Joo Ho, General Director of Samsung Electronics Vietnam Co., Ltd., Head of the volunteer group, said: For children, school is considered a second home, a place where they live, study and play to develop physically and mentally. Visiting and donating equipment to preschool students in Cuc Phuong is a meaningful program of Samsung Vietnam with the desire to support the construction of a quality training environment, helping students to study in better conditions to build a solid foundation for their future.
Receiving these meaningful gifts, teacher Dinh Thi Thu, Principal of Cuc Phuong Kindergarten shared her joy: Cuc Phuong is a locality with many difficulties in the province. In recent years, the school has received great attention from the Party, the State, the province and the locality in building and perfecting facilities for teaching and learning. In particular, in the journey of striving to improve, the school has also received attention and contributions from businesses, organizations and philanthropists.
On the day of receiving gifts from Samsung Electronics Vietnam Co., Ltd., after directly performing meaningful tasks such as: repainting walls, installing lawns, paving garden tiles, installing tables and chairs..., members of the volunteer group also personally prepared lunch for the children. The special affection and care of the volunteer group of Samsung Electronics Vietnam Co., Ltd. for teachers and students of Cuc Phuong Kindergarten not only contributed to perfecting the infrastructure system, supplementing full and modern equipment, creating a good environment for children to study and practice, but it was also a great source of encouragement for teachers and students to continue to make more efforts to improve, achieving even higher results in child care and education activities.
Mr. Dinh Van Xuan, Chairman of Cuc Phuong Commune People's Committee, said: In recent years, Cuc Phuong Commune has achieved many outstanding and comprehensive results in socio-economic development. Schools at all levels have been invested in building spacious and solid buildings, basically meeting the teaching and learning needs of teachers and students. In addition to the efforts of the commune, the cooperation and support of organizations and businesses through meaningful gifts such as libraries, teaching equipment, etc. have contributed to improving facilities, creating the best environment for students to study and practice, creating a "push" for local learning to develop comprehensively and firmly.
