Mistakes that result in points deduction and suspension when taking the 10th grade entrance exam

Ho Chi Minh City: Candidates taking the 10th grade exam at public schools will have 25-50% of their exam score deducted if they are reprimanded or warned during the exam; they will be suspended from the exam if they write or draw irrelevant content.

On the morning of June 5, more than 96,000 candidates came to the testing site to complete procedures, listen to regulations, and check personal information before entering the two official exam days.

At the Tran Van On Secondary School exam site in District 1, 535 candidates had their exam cards and IDs checked by the invigilators, and their information adjusted if there were any errors. Candidates without IDs could use their exam cards but had to write a commitment. Next, the invigilators informed the students about the regulations, items allowed in the exam room, and disciplinary action if they violated the rules.

Mr. Vo Thien Cang, Head of the Examination and Quality Assessment Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, said there are three levels of discipline for candidates who violate exam regulations.

Specifically: Candidates who look at or exchange papers with other candidates will be reprimanded. If they have been reprimanded but still commit mistakes; exchange papers or scratch paper with other candidates; copy or let other candidates copy their papers, they will be warned.

Candidates will be suspended from the exam if they commit one of the following violations: bringing unauthorized items into the exam room, taking the exam questions out or receiving answers from outside; writing or drawing on the exam paper about content unrelated to the exam; or acting aggressively or threatening other candidates or those responsible for the exam.

Candidates who have been warned once but continue to violate the regulations at the level of reprimand or warning during the exam will also be suspended from the exam. Suspended candidates must submit their exam papers, exam questions, and exam papers, leave the exam room immediately after the decision is made, and will not be allowed to take the next exams.

In case of being warned during the exam, 25% of the exam score will be deducted for that subject. Candidates will have 50% of their exam score deducted if they violate the regulations at the warning level or are found marking or symbolizing on the exam.

The exam will be given 0 points if: copied from documents brought into the exam room illegally; there are two or more papers for one exam subject; the exam has the handwriting of two or more people; parts of the exam are written on scrap paper or paper that does not comply with regulations.

Mr. Cang noted that candidates who arrive more than 15 minutes late to the test start time will not be allowed to take the test. They will only be allowed to leave the test area after 2/3 of the test time has passed.

This year, Ho Chi Minh City has nearly 114,000 junior high school graduates, of whom 96,300 registered to take the public 10th grade exam. Of these, more than 88,000 students took the regular 10th grade exam, about 6,900 students took the specialized exam, and 1,100 students took the integrated 10th grade exam.

The total enrollment target of the city's 108 public high schools is 77,300, with an admission rate of 80.2%. Nearly 19,000 candidates who failed the public 10th grade entrance exam can continue studying at private schools, continuing education centers, and vocational schools.
