According to regulations of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, the subjects eligible for direct admission to grade 10 for students who have graduated from junior high school in the 2024-2025 school year in Ho Chi Minh City are as follows:

• Students are disabled (with certificate as prescribed).
• Secondary school students who win national prizes organized by the Ministry of Education and Training or in coordination with ministries and ministerial-level agencies on a national scale in cultural, artistic and sports competitions, contests and competitions; scientific and technical research competitions.
• Secondary school students who won prizes in international competitions are selected by the Minister of Education and Training.

In particular, the Department of Education and Training stipulates that junior high school students who win prizes in national science and technology competitions for high school students organized by the Ministry or students who win international prizes in corresponding subjects in the General Education Program are allowed to register for direct admission to grade 10 of all high schools in Ho Chi Minh City (except specialized schools).

Students who are eligible for direct admission to grade 10 can register for high schools (except for specialized schools and some special cases according to the instructions of the Department of Education and Training). The registered school must meet the following conditions: near the current residence (based on the current residence in the VNeID of the father, mother, guardian) or near the workplace of the father, mother, guardian, suitable for the student's ability and learning conditions; suitable for the school's reception capacity.

The Department of Education and Training encourages students who have won national and international sports awards to apply for direct admission to three high schools: Gifted Sports High School; Nguyen Thi Dinh Gifted Sports High School and Binh Chanh Gifted Sports High School to continue developing their talents. Because when studying at these schools, students will enjoy the benefits applied to athletes during training if they compete for the city team.

Students eligible for direct admission to grade 10 must submit their applications directly to the middle school where they are studying grade 9 from now until May 10.

Attached documents include all of the following documents: School report card; birth certificate; exam registration form printed from the system with signatures of parents, students and signature and seal of the school (original); citizen identification card; certificate of disability issued by a competent authority or certificate, certificate of merit, decision by the Department of Education and Training to nominate to participate in cultural, artistic, sports, national and international scientific and technical research competitions in accordance with regulations.

Cultural, artistic, sports, scientific and technical research competitions or decisions to nominate students for competitions must be issued or organized during the students' secondary school years.

Based on the direct admission profile, the candidate's registration wishes and valid residence information (determined via VNeID or valid residence confirmation paper), the direct admission council will allocate students to appropriate public high schools. The admission process will apply digital maps to assess geographical distance, while comprehensively considering factors such as learning ability, convenience in traveling, priority order of wishes and the school's ability to accept.

It is expected that from May 21 to 31, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training will announce the list of candidates eligible for direct admission to grade 10. Based on the candidates' registration documents, the direct admission council will consider each specific case and allocate students to suitable high schools in the same area.

The Department of Education and Training also noted that for cases of direct admission to grade 10, the assigned school may be outside the candidate's initial registration wishes but still ensures optimal learning conditions for the candidate.

On June 20, the Department of Education and Training will announce the list of students admitted to grade 10 by direct admission.
