Projects "germinate" under the school roof

Recently, volunteer projects in the Youth Union have flourished at Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, Dong Ha City. Interestingly, most of the projects were born from students' ideas. With the desire to bring and multiply good things, the students connected with each other, made plans, assigned responsibilities and implemented the projects.

From that joint effort, many difficult circumstances have been supported. Hot issues such as: Environmental protection, climate change prevention; health care for adolescents and children; combating social evils... have gradually become common concerns.

Among the projects implemented at Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, the Em Project has been receiving a lot of support. The founder of this project is Tran Thai Phuong (born in 2008), a student in grade 11 English 1. Having a passion for music and having participated in many charity projects, Thai Phuong realizes that the arts have a great significance in "healing".

That is the reason that motivated Phuong and her friends to implement the Em Project with many activities such as: Writing media articles; organizing talks, discussions, group work; fundraising art programs... Most recently, project members together organized a charity music night called "Following the Sun". The amount of money raised was agreed by the friends to support disabled children in Gio Linh district. "As students, my friends and I have encountered many advantages but also many difficulties when implementing the project. With the spirit of studying, working, and gaining experience, we are very happy to have initially successfully built and promoted the meaning of the Em Project", said Thai Phuong.

Not only in areas with favorable conditions, in many highland schools in the province, projects built from the enthusiasm of students are also increasingly born. At Dakrong High School, the Warmth Project implemented by the Youth Union of class 11A2 is highly appreciated for its social significance.

Secretary of the 11A2 Youth Union Nguyen Thi Khanh Ly said that living in the highlands, she and her friends saw many difficult circumstances around them. That was the reason why the 11A2 Youth Union organized the Warmth Project with many fundraising activities. After a serious working process, the project raised more than 20 million VND and was spent by the friends to buy gifts for students in difficult circumstances. Ly shared: “When we started implementing the project, my friends and I were all worried. We thought it would be difficult to mobilize a large amount of funding to meet the project's requirements. Therefore, the success of the Warmth Project makes us very happy.”

In addition to the two projects mentioned above, many other impressive projects have been built and implemented by students in the province. It is noted that although they are still in school, most students have invested and prepared carefully for the project. In particular, the survey and understanding of the actual situation are very important to them. When implementing and carrying out, students have a clear division of labor and responsibilities, mobilizing the attention and support of many charitable organizations and individuals. Not only students in the class and block, some projects also attract the participation of young people from many other schools and localities.

It is no coincidence that recently, student projects have flourished in the area. To achieve this result, in recent times, the provincial Youth Union at all levels has focused on propaganda and mobilization for the Youth Union, especially students, to be more aware of their role and position. They are also given the opportunity to participate in many meaningful activities and movements. From here, many students have learned and accumulated important knowledge, experience and skills.

To further promote the aspirations of the youth union members at school, the provincial youth union chapters also coordinate to organize many competitions on innovative start-up ideas, youth informatics, community projects, etc. With a good environment, the youth union members at school are more professional in building and implementing projects. Some of their projects have received sponsorship from the youth union chapters at all levels.

According to records, most of the student projects are effective. Many projects have developed strongly, spread quickly, creating a vibrant movement. Schools: Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, Dong Ha High School, Dakrong High School, Vinh Linh High School, Lao Bao High School... are considered "bright spots" in the movement to build projects for the community.

Teacher Nguyen Phuong Nam, Secretary of the Youth Union of Dakrong High School, said: “Dakrong High School currently has about 800 students with 22 youth union branches. Currently, the lives of most students are still facing difficulties. In that context, we are very happy that the students still direct their hearts to love and build meaningful projects. Therefore, the school's youth union always encourages, motivates, and accompanies the students.”

The projects that “germinate” under the school roof are a vivid manifestation, marking a positive change in the awareness and actions of the young generation. However, in order for the projects to go into depth, be long-lasting, and have a strong impact, students need more attention and support not only from the Youth Union at all levels but also from related sectors, units, organizations, and individuals. This will be an important foundation for the future owners of the homeland and country to rise up and contribute more.
