As 2024 draws to a close, Ho Chi Minh City will host many countdown events to welcome the new year 2025 and display spectacular fireworks. So where will the countdown be held? What should you keep in mind to have more fun at the countdown?
Where to see countdown?
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport, some central routes in District 1 will be closed to all vehicles from 2:00 p.m. on December 31, 2024 to 1:00 a.m. on January 1, 2025 to organize the countdown event to welcome the new year. Specifically, Le Loi Street (from Pasteur to Dong Khoi) and Nguyen Hue Street (from Le Thanh Ton to Ton Duc Thang). Therefore, you can travel by alternative routes to entertainment venues or park your vehicle at nearby streets and shopping centers.

In addition to Nguyen Hue walking street, in the Saigon River Park area (Thu Duc City), there will be a countdown program and fireworks at the entrance of the Saigon River tunnel (Thu Duc City). In the park area, there are quite spacious parking lots, but please note that the traffic volume is too high, this can lead to congestion on the countdown night.
The countdown stage area at Saigon Riverside Park is located right at the foot of Ba Son Bridge.
Another place where fireworks will be set off to welcome the new year 2025 is Van Phuc urban area located on Highway 13, Hiep Binh Phuoc Ward, Thu Duc City. If you are traveling from the center of Ho Chi Minh City, you can follow Xo Viet Nghe Tinh Street, continue across Binh Trieu Bridge for about 1.5 km to reach Van Phuc urban area.
Tips for going to countdown
As an experienced countdown participant, Nguyen Bich Tram (24 years old), residing on Nguyen Van Luong Street, Ward 10, District 6 (HCMC) said that to get the best angles when watching the countdown, you should go early, about 2-3 hours before the event. "Everyone should bring snacks, and find a place near the LED screens if standing far from the stage area to be able to watch the countdown program most fully," said Bich Tram.

Bich Tram said that you should be careful about theft and should not bring valuables. If you do, bring a small bag to avoid getting tangled up when attending the event. "You should also choose places that are not too crowded to avoid being squeezed or even trampled when people are having a wild party," Tram said. Also someone with many years of experience attending countdowns in Ho Chi Minh City, Le Quang Huy (24 years old), living in Vinhomes Grand Park (Thu Duc City), said: "When attending crowded events like countdowns, you should choose to take a motorbike taxi to the entertainment spot, then walk to places that are not congested to catch a taxi. If you go by motorbike, you have to accept being a little late because the road will definitely be jammed for a long time." Huy added that you should choose technology devices that can take good photos in low light conditions to be able to capture the wonderful moments of the countdown night.
The area along the Saigon River, District 1 will also be an ideal place to watch fireworks for many young people.

Although she does not like to go to crowded places but still wants to watch fireworks, Nguyen Thi Kim Ngoc (22 years old), living on D5 Street, Binh Thanh District (HCMC), said: "Every year, I do not go to the stage area to watch the countdown event's performances because it is quite crowded. I mainly go to watch fireworks, so I choose to go along the riverbank in District 1 to watch beautiful fireworks without having to jostle." Kim Ngoc added that in addition to the section along the riverbank in District 1, you can also go to rooftop cafes in Thao Dien Ward, Thu Duc City to watch fireworks and relax without having to worry about crowds.
