200 liaison officers and volunteers serving the 9th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians were selected from more than 2,000 individuals who registered to participate. They are cultural ambassadors spreading the beautiful image of Vietnamese youth and Vietnamese people to friends around the world.
Volunteer Doan Bich Phuong, University of Foreign Languages (Vietnam National University, Hanoi): "Professional, friendly and knowledgeable image of Vietnamese youth"
As one of 200 carefully selected volunteers and liaisons, I am aware that “the greater the honor, the greater the responsibility”. This is an opportunity for me to learn the knowledge and skills that young people of the new era need, and the experiences of our predecessors will help us improve ourselves.
To prepare for this Conference, I had to learn deeply about the country and people of Vietnam; because we are the representatives of the young generation of Vietnam in contact with parliamentarians from all over the world. We strive to build a professional, friendly and knowledgeable image so that international friends have a good impression of Vietnamese youth in particular, and the country and people of Vietnam in general.
In the past few days, I have been assisting Vietnamese and foreign reporters working at the Conference. While interpreting for foreign reporters, I always try to inform them to promote the image, history, culture and economy of Vietnam.
Volunteer Ho Yen Nhi, Hanoi University: "Wherever delegates need us, we are there"
At this conference, I was assigned to pick up and drop off the Bolivian delegation; interview and interpret during the conference. The main languages used were English and Spanish. Being bilingual helped me support not only the assigned delegation, but also Spanish-speaking delegations such as the South American and African delegations.
It can be said that whenever the delegates needed me, I was there. From checking in at the hotel to giving directions, translating, and interviewing for the Vietnamese press. All of these things left a good impression on the foreign delegates.
On the evening of September 14, after the reception of the National Assembly Chairman, I shared with a foreign delegate that today was my birthday. Immediately after that, I received congratulatory songs from many international friends in the lobby of the Marriott Hotel. Also here, I received a lapel pin from a Bolivian Congressman. This was a very memorable birthday for me.
International friends told me that they had a great time attending this conference and were impressed by the Vietnamese volunteers for their enthusiasm and agility.
Volunteer Nguyen Thi Anh Tho, Foreign Trade University: "Opportunity for volunteers to promote the image, country and people of Vietnam"
For me, this was a chance. When I got the information, I went to the national volunteer website to recruit volunteers to serve the 9th National Conference of Young Parliamentarians. By registering to volunteer for the program, I hope that this will be an opportunity for me to learn and approach many delegations from countries around the world. This will help me gain more knowledge and experience. This is also an opportunity for volunteers to promote the image, country and people of Vietnam.
